SU Fifth Avenue Floral

Hello, stampers!!  So glad you stopped by as I have for you today a Happy Mother’s Day card featuring Stampin’ Up! (SU) Fifth Avenue Floral Stamp Set, which is retired.  I made the card for the following Sketch Challenge on Splitcoaststampers:

SC588

The Sketch Challenge, SC588, hosted by Carey aka cpayette, was fun but took some time to discern.

SU Fifth Avenue Floral

I was undecided about how to approach the challenge initially. I couldn’t decide if I wanted to use designer series paper or not, and if so, where in the design. Then I found in my cabinet an OLD SU designer series paper (i.e., Sweet & Sour Speciality Designer Series Paper) and I knew the answer to the question I was pondering. To me, this paper is so pretty with Rose Red and Pumpkin Pie as the main colors. You can’t see it in the photo, but the paper comes with one side of all the designs embossed.

(UPDATE:  This card is a Favorite for the Week Ending April 17, 2016 on Splitcoaststampers!)

I then decided I wanted a floral image on the card and decided on the Hibiscus stamp from the SU Fifth Avenue Floral stamp set. I have many beautiful Hibiscus bushes in my yard, so they are special to me. Not my favorite flower, but special.

I used the swirly stamp from Everything Eleanor to create my stem after masking the flower. To give the image a little something extra, I used SU Rose Red and Pumpkin Pie Candy Dots and included two bees.

I hope you enjoy the card, and thanks for looking and leaving a comment!!

ODBD Quilted With Love

Thanks for stopping by to check out my latest piece of artwork, which features Our Daily Bread Designs (ODBD) Quilted With Love Stamp Set.  The sentiment on the card is from the Quilted With Love Stamp Set.

ODBD Quilted With Love

I made this card for two challenges on Splitcoaststampers –  TLC581, Fancy Piercing, and CAS372, Love the Chips.  Judy (StampingQueenJAR) hosted the TLC581 challenge which is to create fancy paper piercing.  Holly (hbrown) hosted the CAS372 challenge that involves using chipboard.  Both were great challenges!!

(UPDATE:   This card was selected as a Favorite for the week ending April 17 on Splitcoaststampers!)

For TLC581, I hand pierced around the flowers and vase. For CAS372, I made the vase from white chipboard that I cut three of and glued together as the chipboard was not a thick as I wanted.

I decided I would try for a second time to use Brushos.  For some odd reason, it was easier this time.  I used them to create the background behind the flowers.  I angled the application so the paper piercing would show on the bottom portion of the card.

Come back soon!

Lovely As A Tree-Color Challenge

Last week I made this Lovely As A Tree card in response to a Color Challenge on Splitcoaststampers.  Barbara aka bejoyce was the host for the Color Challenge, CC577 – Pink Pool in the Meadow!   Barbara picked the wonderful colors of Pink Pirouette, Pool Party, and Mossy Meadow, and she gave us a “dessert” option of having one or more animals on the card.

(UPDATE:  This card was selected as a Favorite of the Week on Splitcoaststampers for the week ending April 10!)

These colors go so well together and I enjoyed participating in the challenge.  Remember Barbara’s challenge included dessert (i.e., extra points) if animals were included on the card?  Well look closely and you’ll see five squirrels enjoying themselves under the “Lovely As A Tree”.  I decided to offset my image to provide some room on the left side of the card for a ribbon and to use color blocking.

This card was selected as a Splitcoaststampers Favorite!  It’s a favorite of mine as well!

I hope you enjoy the card and thanks for stopping by!!!

Card Sketch Challenge

Yesterday, Splitcoaststampers had a great card sketch challenge as seen below.  The sketch challenge was so much fun that folks added more than one card to the Card Sketch Challenge, SC586, gallery.

Card Sketch Challenge

I decided to create a scene and cut it to fit the sketch.  Here is my response to the challenge:

Card Sketch Challenge

The majority of the card was sponged, except for the stamped images.   I used copic markers for portions of the images.   I love the technique of sponging so it was fun to participate in the challenge.  I think that when responding to a sketch challenge, one has more freedom to create than challenges with specific requirements.  I hope you enjoy the card, and any feedback is welcomed!

Splitcoaststampers Color Challenge, CC576

Splitcoaststampers has a Color Challenge, CC576, posted here today, and the colors being featured are Tempting Turquoise, Tangelo Twist, and Whisper White.  What do you think about Tempting Turquoise and Tangelo Twist together?  At first I was hesitant about the colors, but after I began creating, I realized how well they go together.  BTW,  I do not have any Tangelo Twist, so I substituted Tangerine Tango.

This is the card I made for the Splitcoaststampers Color Challenge, CC576:

Splitcoaststampers Color Challenge, CC576

(Update:  This card was chosen as a Splitcoaststampers’ favorite.)

These are the steps I took to make the card:

  • I began the card by spreading Tim Holtz’s Distress Ink – Broken China and Ripe Persimmon – (close to Tempting Turquoise and Tangerine Tango) onto my Rangerink non-stick craft sheet, being careful to not blend the colors.
  • Then I spritzed the craft sheet with water mist until bubbles formed.
  • I cut a 4″ x 5-1/4″ piece of Whisper White card stock and laid it, front side down, onto the ink.
  • I slightly, very slightly, touched the back of the card stock in several places to ensure ink transferred to the card stock.
  • I used the heat gun to ensure it was dry.

This photo is my first try.  Somehow, I don’t know how, I got the orange mixed into the blue.  Needless to say, that piece went into the trash and I started over following the above steps.

Splitcoaststampers Color Challenge CC576

  • After achieving the color mixture I wanted, I used Our Daily Bread Designs (ODBD) two largest Double Stitched Rectangles Dies (CBD123) to cut out three die cuts.
  • I only used the largest and smallest die cuts to adhered to the front of a Whisper White (thick) card stock, as shown in the following photo.

Splitcoaststampers Color Challenge, CC576

  • Next, I added adhesive foam to two frames, Tempting Turquoise and Whisper White, made with the Spellbinders Nestabilities Astoria Decorative Element Dies (S5-254)
  • Before adding the Whisper White frame, I stamped the images onto the frame.
  • I adhered the third frame die cut that I mentioned above to the inside of the card as shown in the below photo.

SU Everything Eleanor

Hello, and welcome to Guneaux Designs!  Today I have for you a card that features the current Stampin’ Up! (SU) Everything Eleanor Stamp Set.

SU Everything Eleanor

I created this card to submit to a Splitcoaststampers Challenge, Ways To Use It, WT575, hosted by Sabrina (Cook22).  The challenge simply was to think in threes!  Thus, I added three flowers, three layers, and  three Swarovski Crystals.

(This card was included in Splitcoaststampers Favorites of the Week ending March 20, 2016.)

I created the floral images by strategically placing them on my MISTI before stamping. (Love the MISTI!)  After stamping the floral images onto the panel with SU inks, I used Copics to enhance the flowers and fill in the white spaces.  After stamping the images onto the card stock, I stamped them onto a piece of Frog Tape to use as masks over the images before adding the stems. I used the swirly stamp from the SU Everything Eleanor Stamp Set to create the stems for the flowers.

As for the ribbon, I punched two slots near the bottom of the “stems” to thread the ribbon through. I threaded both ribbon ends through the slots on the front side, crisscrossed the ends on the back side, and threaded the ribbon ends through the back to the front. That gives the appearance of a ribbon being tied into a knot.

After finishing my panel, I spritzed Hello Honey ink onto the Whisper White panel.  The following are more photos.  I didn’t add a sentiment on the card front, but inside the message is “Thinking of You”!
