4th of July Hand Fan

4th of July Hand Fan

One of the interpretations of the Dirty Dozen’s June Theme, Keeping Score, was to use score lines on a project.  This 4th of July Hand Fan has many score lines.  It is sturdy enough to use in hot weather while outside enjoying a concert and/or watching fireworks on the Independence Day.  This photo is of the fan when open.

HEARTFELT CREATIONS BOTANICAL ROSE PATRIOTIC CARD

Hello, my stamping friends!  A heartfelt thank you for stopping by Guneaux Designs.  If you have stopped by in the last several weeks, you may have noticed that I have used Heartfelt Creations products to create a few cards.  I have fallen in love with their products!  🙂  This card share today is a Heartfelt Creations Botanical Rose Patriotic Card.

This card is for this week’s Color Challenge, CC640 on Splitcoaststampers. The hostess chose a wonderful color combination of SU Dapper Denim, Real Red, Smoky Slate, and Whisper White.  As a “dessert” option, she asked for something patriotic.

When I think of the word, patriotic, the American flag comes to mind.  However, the definition of patriotic is, “of, like, suitable for, or characteristic of a patriot”, or something that represents the love of one’s country.  Giving thought to that, I decided not to use a flag image, but to use the National Flower of the United States, which is a rose. The rose was designated the official flower and floral emblem of the United States in 1986. Thus, I made a white paper rose the main feature of my card.

To create my card base, I decided to fold the front in the form of a “V” for victory.  Then as I was adding the patriotic ribbon, I realized that the form of the card front with the ribbon appears as a metal that one would receive for a significant achievement (e.g., gold medal for the USA). That reinforced my thought process regarding how to decorate the card.

The white sentiment is difficult to read as it is a small print and embossed.  It says, “It is impossible to rightly govern a nation without God and the Bible. George Washington”.  I love the sentiment and am in total agreement with it.  The sentiment is from an ODBD stamp set, God Bless America. With all of that being shared, when I look at the card, patriotic is the word that quickly comes to mind. I hope you enjoy the card!
