Our Daily Bread Designs Star Quilt Die

Welcome, my artistic friends!  Today I’ve created for you a Mother’s Day card that features Our Daily Bread Designs Star Quilt Die.  At the beginning of April, Our Daily Bread Designs (ODBD) released a new set of stamps, dies, and paper that focus on sewing and quilting.  You can see the gorgeous new items HERE.

I purchased the new products when released, but haven’t used them until I made this card.  Actually, I was a little intimidated by the many pieces to the dies.  Now that I’m made this card, I feel more confident.

Our Daily Bread Designs Star Quilt Die

I LOVE Our Daily Bread Designs products!  This quilting release is so beautiful and reminds me of days gone by when I would sit and watch my dear Mom produce quilts, embroidery pieces, and develop other beautiful crafts.

UPDATE:  This card was included in Splitcoaststampers Favorites for the Week ending April 24!

Our Daily Bread Designs Star Quilt Die

The above photo gives you a closeup of the “quilt”.  Although Our Daily Bread Designs released designer paper to go with the dies in the release, I decided to use Stampin’ Up! Love Blossoms Designer Series Paper for this design.  After die cutting the quilting frame, I added SU Crystal Effects to give it some shine.  If you look closely, you can see that.  I also added a green embroidery thread knot in the center of the “quilt”.  I thought that would be quite appropriate.

Our Daily Bread Designs Star Quilt Die

This closeup shows the bottom portion of the card.  I used Our Daily Bread Designs Quilted With Love Stamp Set for my sentiment, “Love you to pieces!”.  I used VersaMark ink and a green embossing powder on the sentiment.  I love the two pairs of scissors and spool of thread die cuts that are from Spellbinders.  I wrapped green embroidery thread around the spool and threaded it through the green pair of scissors to make it appear that the thread is being cut.  Both pairs of scissors are highlighted with SU Crystal Effects.

Lastly, I created this card in response to a Splitcoaststampers Sketch Challenge, seen HERE.  (I almost forgot  to mention that!)

I hope you’ve enjoyed the card and will check out the sewing/quilting release from Our Daily Bread Designs!   Thanks for stopping by and leaving a comment!

Paper Casting Technique

Have you ever tried the Paper Casting Technique?  It’s fun but challenging!

I used the technique to create this card for a Splitcoaststampers Technique Lovers Challenge, TLC582, hosted by Sabrina, aka Cook22.  This challenge includes a video on paper casting using bathroom tissue.   Check it out and create a card with the technique.

Paper Casting Technique

I made this card Monday, using the same bird stamp that is on yesterday’s Purple Starling card.  I have been hesitant to upload the card as my bathroom tissue is so wrinkled (of course, I wet it!), that I didn’t like it.  I saw so many beautiful cards in the Splitcoaststampers gallery that were made with this technique that were not wrinkled! Quite frankly, I thought this card is not about to be worthy of the challenge.

After some soul-searching, I decided that I would go ahead and post it since I took the time to create it, and let the chips fall where they may!

Using the technique, I wet (or soaked) 6-double panel pieces of tissue.  Then I stamped the bird into the wet tissue to create an impression.

When the tissue dried, I used all of the below listed inks to stamp the bird image. I first stamped the bird only with turquoise but it didn’t show well. Therefore, I kept adding different colors of ink to the bird portion of the stamp and re-stamping it, until I decided, enough is enough. Then I inked the remainder of the stamp to color the floral portion of the image.

UPDATE:  This card was listed in Splitcoaststampers Favorites for the week ending on April 24!  ” Congratulations! In the General Stamping forum, you’re in the FAVORITES for the week ending April 24.

Wrinkled-2_1

Then I thought, this tissue paper will not stick together, so I got out a needle and thread and stitched around the square. That was all for naught as it will still separate. Regardless, I die cut the paper flower and leaves, colored them with Copics, and spritzed them with Glimmer Mist. There was an interesting reaction to the mist and alcohol inks together.  It started fizzing!  At first I thought I had made some champagne! LOL

That’s all folks!  Thanks for viewing and leaving comments!  Don’t forget to check out the technique video!

ODBD Quilted With Love

Thanks for stopping by to check out my latest piece of artwork, which features Our Daily Bread Designs (ODBD) Quilted With Love Stamp Set.  The sentiment on the card is from the Quilted With Love Stamp Set.

ODBD Quilted With Love

I made this card for two challenges on Splitcoaststampers –  TLC581, Fancy Piercing, and CAS372, Love the Chips.  Judy (StampingQueenJAR) hosted the TLC581 challenge which is to create fancy paper piercing.  Holly (hbrown) hosted the CAS372 challenge that involves using chipboard.  Both were great challenges!!

(UPDATE:   This card was selected as a Favorite for the week ending April 17 on Splitcoaststampers!)

For TLC581, I hand pierced around the flowers and vase. For CAS372, I made the vase from white chipboard that I cut three of and glued together as the chipboard was not a thick as I wanted.

I decided I would try for a second time to use Brushos.  For some odd reason, it was easier this time.  I used them to create the background behind the flowers.  I angled the application so the paper piercing would show on the bottom portion of the card.

Come back soon!

SU Secret Garden & Splitcoaststampers

Hello, stampers!  Are you having a good Wednesday?  I’m in my craft room creating and having fun.  Today’s card share features the Stampin’ Up! (SU) Secret Garden and Splitcoaststampers Color Challenge, CC575,  Blushing Blissful Brides ~ DO THE MACARON-A!

(Update:  This card was included in Splitcoaststampers Favorites for the week ending on March 27, 2016.)

The SU colors selected for the Color Challenge are Mint Macaron, Blushing Bride, and Blackberry Bliss

SU Secret Garden and Splitcoaststampers

Creating this card took some time as it involves using SU’s White Craft Ink as the initial layer of ink for the flower in the center.  This flower is from the SU Secret Garden Stamp Set.

I am not sure of the name for this technique, but I’ll explain how I did it. Normally this technique is not used on a dark piece of card stock like Blackberry Bliss.  A craft color of card stock (i.e., Crumb Cake) is typically used.  However, I decided that I wanted to use the technique on a die cutout (i.e., ODBD Layered Lacey Squares) from Blackberry Bliss card stock.

To use the technique, I first covered the floral stamp with VersaMark Watermark Ink, added SU White Embossing Powder, and heat set it.  Using a dry Aqua Painter, I applied SU Whisper White Craft Ink over each petal, being careful to stay inside the embossed petals lines.  I allowed the Whisper White Craft Ink to dry before I used the SU Blushing Bride Marker to color the petals of the flower.  It took several layers of ink, and it’s still not what I wanted.  However, I did the best I could.  That’s all, folks – it’s that simple, but time consuming!

I had to include this poor quality photo below.  I was outside taking photos of the card when a breeze whipped up and blew my card over just as I was snapping the photo.  I caught the card just as it was falling.  A flying card makes a blurred photo.  LOL

Loving Thoughts – Stamping With Guneaux Designs

Loving ThoughtsAn easy card for a Monday sounds good; don’t you agree?  This “Wonderful You” card featuring the Loving Thoughts Stamp Set fits the “easy” requirement!

Just slap some Stampin’ Up! Washi Tape on a card front, punch a pansy flower, and add it to the top left corner. Loving Thoughts

Are you thinking, “Why a spring-type card for this time of the year”?  Yes, it does seem like a spring-type card.  However, one of the beauties of living in South-Central Florida is flowers are still blooming!  Most stamping artists are posting fall- and winter-related cards, but I still have flowers blooming in my gardens.  Yes, I’ll post fall/winter cards soon, but not today.

I made this card for my wonderful daughter.  She is so good to me and I wanted her to know how wonderful she is.  She is always bringing me gifts of gratitude, buying me groceries without me asking, and showing her deep love for me in other ways.  Every mother should have a daughter like her!  I am so blessed!

STAMPIN’ UP LOVING THOUGHTS STAMP SET

Stampin Up Mosaic Madness Stamp Set

Yesterday I asked that you come back to my site today to see a cutie!  This cutie features the Stampin Up Mosaic Madness Stamp Set, Modern Mosaic Textured Impressions Embossing Folder, and Mosaic Punch.  Now, isn’t it a cutie?  Well, I sure thank so!

Stampin Up Mosaic Madness Stamp Set

What do you think about the color combination?  I love it!  Although we are approaching September and a lot of Stampin Up crafters are gravitating toward fall colors, I’m not.  I love color – bolds and pastels.  The following picture provides a closer look at the colors used. Stampin Up Mosaic Madness Stamp Set

The base of the card is Stampin Up Pacific Point Card Stock.  The second layer is Stampin Up Crushed Curry Card Stock that includes a stamped border from the Stampin Up Mosaic Madness Stamp Set.  The third layer is Stampin Up Bermuda Bay Card Stock that is also framed with a stamped border from the stamp set.  Can you guess the color of the fourth layer?  Give it a try and let me know your guess in the comment section of this post (chat bubble beside the title).

Now, I have to admit that although I purchased it, I was not too fond of the Stampin Up Mosaic Madness Stamp Set.  But I decided to force myself to create (can you imagine forcing a card maker to create?) a card that featured all things Mosaic!  With the color combination, I think it turned out quite well.  I will use the Stampin Up Mosaic Madness Stamp Set again. 🙂

The picture below gives you a peek into the inside of the card:
