CottageCutz Daffodil Flower – March

CottageCutz Daffodil Flower – March

Hello, my friends!  WeIcome to Guneaux Designs.  As a  guest designer for the Scrapping Cottage, I  have for you a project featuring the CottageCutz Daffodil Flower – March stamp and coordinating die set.

Speaking of March, did you know that the  month of March is synonymous with the onset of spring in the Northern Hemisphere. Accordingly, the flower associated with the month of March is the Daffodil.  The Scrapping Cottage has a stamp and coordinating die for the flower of each month. Check out these beautiful stamps and dies HERE.

Moving on, here is the card I made with the beautiful CottageCutz Daffodil Flower – March stamp.

My Daffodil is designed after the Fortissimo Daffodil that has yellow petals and a cup of glowing orange to red.  Here is a picture of the flower.

I made the card as a “Big Flap” card, and you can make this card too by following these instructions:

Step 1.  Stamp the CottageCutz Daffodil Flower onto a piece of white card stock.  I wanted a “no-line coloring” image; therefore, I used different colors of markers to add ink to sections of the image and stamped them separately.  I used yellow for the petals of the daffodil, peach for the cup, green for the leaves and stems, and gray for the rocks.

Step 2.  Color the image as desired.  I used various Copic Sketch Markers to color my image.  After coloring it, I used the two largest dies from the CottageCutz Stitched Rounded Rectangle Set to cut out the image.  Also, I stamped, colored, fussy cut, and attached the butterfly that is part of the CuttageCutz Daffodil Flower – March set using foam tape.

Step 3.  Set aside the image and start creating the card base.

Step 4.  Cut a 5-1/2″ x 10″ piece of card stock (your choice of color).

Step 5.  Place the card stock horizontally onto a score board and score at the 4″ and 8-1/4″  marks.

Step 6.  Fold the score lines toward each other.

Step 7.  Select a double-sided designer paper and cut two 3-3/4″ x 5-1/4″ pieces, and two 1-1/2″ x 5-1/4″ pieces.

Step 8.  Attach one of the 3-3/4″ x 5-1/4″  pieces of designer paper to the larger flap on the front of the card base.

Step 9.  Attach one of the 1-1/2″ x 5-1/4″ pieces of designer paper to the small flap on the front of the card base.  (I selected the same side of the designer paper for the front.)

Step 10.  Attach the second 3-3/4″ x 5-1/4″ piece of designer paper onto the inside large flap.  I used the other side of the designer paper.

Step 11.  Attach the second 1-1/2″ x 5-1/4″ piece of designer paper onto the inside small flap..

Step 12.  Cut a piece of white card stock with the largest die from the CottageCutz Stitched Rounded Rectangle Set

Step 13.  Attach the outside frame cut from the image (see Step 2.) to the piece of white card stock using a double layer of double-sided foam tape.

Step 14.  Attach the image inside of the above frame.

Step 15.  Apply a strong adhesive to the back left side of the above image piece.

Step 16.  Close both flaps of the card base with the right one over the left one.  Attach the framed image to the front large flap of the card base, ensuring it is centered over the front and not attached to the right small flap of the card.  The strong adhesive is necessary to ensure the image piece will not come off as the card is opened and closed.

Step 17.  Cut a 4″ x 5-1/4″ piece of card stock, add a sentiment and/or an embellishment, and attach to the center of the inside of the card.

Step 18.  Embellish the card as desired.  I cut several small flowers using the   CottageCutz Tree of Nature Die.  I cupped them with a stylus and adhered micro beads to the centers.  I used the CottageCutz Winter Branches Die to cut green stems (not branches LOL) for the tiny flowers and added them to the two corners of my card front and the center piece inside the card.

I hope you are inspired by my CottageCutz Daffodil Flower – March card.

Guneaux Designs Strumming Guitar

What does the word, strings, bring to your mind?  For me, it is my Dad’s old Gibson Dove Custom guitar.  That thought generated this Guneaux Designs Strumming Guitar card.

Why would the word strings come to my mind?  It is because today’s Splitcoaststampers Clean and Simple Challenge was to think of strings when creating and submitting a card for the challenge.  The image showcased on this Guneaux Designs Strumming Guitar card is a digital image that I downloaded and colored.  I used Copic Sketch Markers in shade of browns and blues to color it.

I wanted to add a couple elements to the guitar that reminded me of my Dad’s guitar, which I have now because of his passing.  The two elements are the bird on the right and the white panel at the bottom right of the guitar.  I added white Crystal Drops to these elements to give them the look of mother of pearl.  My Dad’s guitar has a mother of pearl dove and other mother of pearl elements on it.  I thought the Crystal Drops would be perfect to replicate that.

After finishing with the image, I used a die from My Favorite Things to cut the white panel, and attached it to a turquoise card base.  Because the Guneaux Designs Strumming Guitar card is a clean and simple one, that’s all, folks!  Thank you for stopping by!

MATTHEW 5:8-10

“Now when Jesus had entered Capernaum, a centurion came to Him, pleading with Him, saying, ‘Lord, my servant is lying at home paralyzed, dreadfully tormented.’ And Jesus said to him, ‘I will come and heal him.’ The centurion answered and said, ‘Lord, I am not worthy that You should come under my roof. But only speak a word, and my servant will be healed… ‘When Jesus heard it, He marveled, and said to those who followed, ‘Assuredly, I say to you, I have not found such great faith, not even in Israel!’

ODBDSLC284 Anything Goes With ODBD Stamps

Hello, my friends, and thanks for stopping by to see my card creation for today.  My card features the recently released Our Daily Bread Designs (ODBD) Tulips Stamp Set.  I love this stamp set, and its matching die.  I plan to submit this card for the ODBD Shining the Light Challenge, “ODBDSLC284 Anything Goes With ODBD Stamps”.

I am submitting the card also for today’s Splitcoaststampers Sketch Challenge found here.  I seldom respond to the Splitcoaststampers Sketch Challenges, but today’s sketch is great, so I had to respond.

(This card won the Our Daily Bread Shining The Light Challenge Award!}

To create my card, I stamped the tulip image onto Neenah Solar White card stock and colored it with copics in shades of peach and green.  I cut out the finished tulip with the matching tulip die.

I used some beautiful paper from Papertrey Ink to create the panels for elements 1 – 5 of the sketch.  I stamped a sentiment from the ODBD Tulips stamp set onto the same paper, and assembled the card.

I want to share with you that this stamp set and matching die is on sale as a bundle for only $23.72.  Where else can you get a stamp set and matching die for so little money?  Typically, a die can cost as much as $20!  You can also purchase the stamp set and die separately if necessary.

Thanks, again, for stopping by Guneaux Designs.  I hope you are inspired by my beautiful card!

JAMES 1:19-22

“My dear brothers, take note of this:  Everyone should be quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to become angry, for man’s anger does not bring about the righteous life that God desires.  Therefore, get rid of all moral filth and the evil that is so prevalent and humbly accept the word planted in you, which can save you.  Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves.  Do what it says.”

Guneaux Designs Irish Blessings

Hello, and welcome to Guneaux Designs!  Today’s theme for the Clean and Simple Challenge on Splitcoaststampers was the “Luck of the Irish”.  I submitted this Guneaux Designs Irish Blessings card for the challenge.

To make the Guneaux Designs Irish Blessings card, I used a heart-shaped die to create a shamrock on a piece of white card stock. Using VersaMark Ink and Gold Embossing Powder, I embossed around the shamrock and added a gold-embossed stem. I stamped greenery on the bottom of the card stock with a Lovely Notes stamp and attached an Irish-themed picture behind the shamrock.

I selected a scrap piece of SU Crushed Curry card stock, cut out a panel with an ODBD die, embossed it with an embossing folder, and attached it as a mat behind the white card stock. I created my sentiment, cut it out with a Sizzix die, and attached it to the card front. I added sequins and attached the front panels to the Gumball Green card base.  That is “clean and simple” to me.

Thanks for stopping by to view Guneaux Designs Irish Blessings card!  Until the next time,

 HEBREWS 4:14-16

“Therefore, since we have a great high priest who has gone through the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold firmly to the faith we profess.  For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but we have one who has been tempted in every way, just as we are — yet was without sin.  Let us then approach the throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need.”

Fifth Avenue Floral Birthday Card

Hello my friends, and welcome to Guneaux Designs!  I am happy you stopped by to enjoy my Fifth Avenue Floral Birthday Card!  The long-retired Stampin’ Up! (SU) stamp set, Fifth Avenue Floral, is featured on this birthday card.

To make the card, I:

  • used the Lily stamp from the Fifth Avenue Floral set,
  • stamped several Lily images onto white card stock and colored them with copic sketch markers,
  • selected the best ones, fussy cut them, and cut between each petal on each Lily to curve (or roll) them,
  • used Sizzix’s Susan Garden Tool Kit (discontinued) to curve the petals and add veins in the Lily leaves,
  • colored and fussy cut stamens from other stamped Lily images, added flower soft to the ends with glossy accents, and attached them to the Lilies with foam tape for dimension,

  • used CottageCutz Double-Stitched Rectangle Dies Set to cut two pink frames/panels,
  • used a Cuttlebug Happy Birthday embossing folder to emboss the front side of my white card base, and
  • assembled the card.

My card is a birthday card for my youngest daughter whose birthday is today.  She will love the card as a Lily is her favorite flower.

Thanks for stopping by, and may you have a blessed weekend.

2 CORINTHIANS 9:6-9

“Remember this:  Whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows generously will also reap generously.  Each man should give what he has decided in his heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.  And God is able to make all grace abound to you, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work.  As it is written:  “He has scattered abroad his gifts to the poor; his righteousness endures forever.”

Wildflower Gate Happy Birthday Card

Hello, friends!  Today I have a card share that I call, Wildflower Gate Happy Birthday Card.  The name comes from the embossing folder I used to create the card.  That is the Anna Griffin Wildflower Gate Embossing Folder.

I submitted my card for a Splitcoaststampers Clean and Simple Challenge for today that asks participants to “Think Spring”.  What comes to your mind when you think of spring?  I think of flowers, especially daffodils and tulips.  However, my card does not feature daffodils and tulips, it features a variety of flowers.

To create the card, I used the Wildflower Gate Embossing Folder to emboss a piece of Neenah White Card Stock.  Then I used sponge daubers to apply ink onto the raised portions of the panel.  I used five of Catherine Pooler’s new inks:  Party Dress (pink), Flirty Fuchsia (purple), Something Borrowed (blue), Tiki Torch (orange), and Lime Rickey (lime).

After applying ink onto the floral images, I used the same embossing folder to carefully emboss a piece of vellum.  I aligned the two embossed pieces and attached them together.  I added rhinestones to some of the flowers and then used a corner punch for the four corners.  I then threaded a lime green ribbon around the card, adding a bow.  I finished by adding a “Happy Birthday” sentiment.  Now how clean and simple is that?

The Anna Griffin Wildflower Gate embossing folder is an old folder, and I cannot find a link online for you!

I hope you are inspired to use vellum in this manner, and you have enjoyed my Wildflower Gate Happy Birthday Card.

LUKE 24:45-49

After Jesus was raised from the dead, he appeared before the Disciples and they were startled.  “Then he opened their minds so they could understand the Scriptures.  He told them, ‘This is what is written:  The Christ will suffer and rise from the dead on the third day, and repentance and forgiveness of sins will be preached in his name to all nations, beginning at Jerusalem.  You are witnesses of these things.  I am going to send you what my Father has promised; but stay in the city until you have been clothed with power from on high.”
