ODBD A True Friend

Have you seen the gorgeous Bearded Iris stamp from the ODBD A True Friend stamp set?  It is a large stamp, but it is gorgeous.  The card I’m sharing with you today spotlights a set of Bearded Irises.

ODBD A True Friend

If you like the Bearded Iris, you can get only that stamp here without the sentiments that come with the stamp set.

Yes, indeed this is a large floral stamp – stamped three times on my card!! This card is for Vicki’s (vdutchr) “So Coral Cantaloupe” Color Challenge, CC592, on Splitcoaststampers!  Vicki picked three colors that are beautiful together!  The colors are SU So Saffron, Crisp Cantaloupe, and Calypso Coral.  I colored the irises with Copic Sketch Markers that closely match the challenge colors.

I think I overdid it, don’t you? The stamp image is large, and I couldn’t stop with one stamped iris, I had to stamp three (using masking, of course)!!!  Go big, or go home!  Isn’t that the cliche? LOL

Dessert (i.e., extra points) for the color challenge is “dimension”.  I used foam tape to pop up the Spellbinders 5 x 7 Herloom Legacy die cut onto the white card base.  I added clear Wink of Stella to the beards of the irises. Hopefully you can see that.

I am also submitting this card to the Our Daily Bread Designs blog for its ODBDSLC276, Anything that Grows with ODBD.

Thanks for stopping by and have a wonderful, blessed day!

“I urge, then, first of all, that petitions, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for everyone. For kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness. This is good, and pleases God our Savior.”  1 Timothy 2:1-3

ODBD Sunburst Background Die

Hey, Sunshine!!  That’s the name of Carla’s (aka uvgotcarla) “Clean And Simple” Challenge for today on Splitcoaststampers.  Her challenge is to create a card using some kind of sun element in the design. To create my card, I used white card stock to cut out the ODBD Sunburst Background Die. I laid the die over the sunburst cutout and used a fantastic Clarity Stencil Brush to brush on the two inks. (The Clarity Stencil Brushes are remarkable.)

Sunburst Background_1

I cut out a fence using a wood-grain DSP and ODBD Fence Die, green grass using Lawn Fawn’s Grassy Border Die, and green stems and various colors of flowers using the Impression Obsession Bouquet Die.  I assembled and attached them to the bottom of the sunburst.  I created a digital sentiment that was cut out with an ODBD Mini Tags & Labels Die and attached to the card front slightly over the sun.

Lovely Notes Collection

Today the outstanding artist, Kittie (kittie747) on Splitcoaststampers chose another remarkable artist to be the Featured Stamper for this week. That artist is the one and only Vickie Yeakley (Vickie Y.) CONGRATS, Vickie!!!  I used Catherine Pooler’s Lovely Notes Collection to create this card in honor of Vickie.

Lovely Notes_1To participate in the Featured Stamper Challenge, you select a card of the featured stamper to CASE, changing at least two things.  I chose one of Vickie’s card that is actually in my Favorites List today, “Lace Border vky”. I love the design of her card, and decided I would honor Vickie by creating a similar card. This is her card.

Things that I changed from Vickie’s original:

1. Color Choices (her colors are a shade of lavender and green)
2. Stamped Images (except for the sentiment, she has no stamped images)
3. Sentiment (her sentiment is, “Just Saying Hello”)
4. Position of the border cuts (her borders run from corner to corner)
5. Die Cut Outs (she has a butterfly and flower)

Lovely Notes Collection

For my card, I used the stamps from the Lovely Notes Collection (Catherine Pooler) to randomly stamp flowers and foliage onto the solar white card stock. I used one of the Spellbinders dies to create borders and popped up the two pieces with foam tape onto a Tempting Turquoise Pierced Rectangle. I also created three flowers (on the left side), die cut them, and adhered them to the card front with foam tape. This was attached to the Daffodil Delight card base.

I felt the sentiment, Celebrate, is quite appropriate as we are celebrating one of SCS favorite artist!

Lovely Notes Collection

Enjoy and have a wonderful, blessed day!

Jesus said:  “In that day you will no longer ask me anything.  I tell you the truth, my Father will give you whatever you ask in my name.  Until now you have not asked for anything in my name.  Ask and you will receive, and your joy will be complete.”  John 16:23-24

ODBD Gladiolus – You Bless Me – ODBDSLC276

Gladiolus flowers are so beautiful, and they come in a large array of colors.  The Gladiolus flower was my Mom’s favorite flower.  When I saw the Gladiolus stamp from the ODBD Gladiolous – You Bless Me stamp set, I immediately thought of her.  So this card is in memory of her.

ODBD Gladious - You Bless Me

This card will be submitted to Our Daily Bread Designs for it’s July challenge, ODBDSLC276, Anything that Grows with ODBD.  The challenge requires the use of at least one stamp from either ODBD, North Coast Creations, or Artistic Outpost.  This card is created with two ODBD products; the frame die cut and the red Gladiolus stamp.

ODBD Gladious - You Bless MeI submitted this card to the Splitcoaststampers Ways to Use It Challenge.  The challenge was to create a card and “decorate all the way to the border. Add lace to the edge, color to the edge, stamp off the edge, die cut your card with a fancy die cut whatever you do go all the way to the border.”  Therefore, I used the largest die from the ODBD Vintage Border Dies to create my card in the form of the die.

ODBD Gladious3_1
I also submitted the card for two other Splitcoaststampers Challenges: 1) F4A334, “add some sort of frame (it can be diecut, punched, stamped, embossed, etc.) to your lovely creation” . Because my card is made in the form a frame die, I decided to submit the same card for this challenge.  2) IC554, Petals, which was to draw inspiration from a website full of gorgeous floral arrangements.

If interested, you may read all the wonderful Splitcoaststampers comments on this card HERE.  You will note that the card was selected as a Favorite For The Week Ending 7/17/16, as well as a CAS (Clean and Simple) favorite.

[Jesus said,] “But I tell you who hear me:  Love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, bless those who curse you, pray for those who mistreat you.  If someone strikes you on one cheek, turn to him the other cheek, turn to him the other also.  If someone takes your cloak, do not stop him from taking your tunic.”  Luke 6:27 – 29 (NIV)

ODBD Tea Time

The card I’m sharing today is one I made in response to Tuesday’s Color Challenge on Splitcoaststampers.com.  My card features the Our Daily Bread Designs (ODBD) Tea Time Stamp Set.

ODBD Tea Time

The color challenge required creating with these three beautiful Stampin’ Up! colors:

SCS Color Challenge 7--12-16_1

I do not have anything in the Flirty Flamingo color, so I substituted SU Regal Rose for my card. The center piece is from ODBD Tea Time Stamp Set. I stamped the images in black and used copic sketch markers to color, trying to match the colors as closely as possible to the challenge colors. I mounted the center piece with foam tape onto a Mint Macaron Deco Label cutout. Using the same framelit, I cut out a Night of Navy frame, covered it with Crystal Effects, and mounted it with foam tape onto the center piece.

The first layer is a piece of Regal Rose polka dot DSP that I cut out with a ODBD Pierced Rectangle Die and embossed with the SU Finial Press Embossing Folder (retired). I added die cut leaves and tiny flowers on two corners.

“Dear friends, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, because many false prophets have gone out into the world.  This is how you can recognize the Spirit of God:  Every spirit that acknowledges that Jesus Christ has come in the Flesh is from God, but every spirit that does not acknowledge Jesus is not from God.  This is the spirit of the antichrist, which you have heard is coming and even now is already in the world.  1 John 4:1-3 (NIV)

Explosion Heart Card

Hola, my friends!  I have for you today an Explosion Heart Card!  Have you ever made one?  This is my first time, and I made it for a Technique Lovers Challenge on Splitcoaststampers.

If you are a Stampin’ Up! (SU) consumer, do you remember this gorgeous Parisian Breeze Specialty Designer Paper (retired)?  It came out in 2009 and is a heavy double-sided Designer Series Paper (DSP).  The colors of the DSP are Baja Breeze, Chocolate Chip, and Kraft.  I used the paper to create my Explosion Heart Card!  This photo is the card closed with a ribbon.

This is the card’s inside after it “explodes”.  LOL

And, this is a photo of the lovely SU Parisian Breeze Specialty Designer Paper.

UPDATE:  This card was selected as a Splitcoaststampers Favorite for the Week Ending July 17, 2016!

Here are the steps for creating an Explosion Heart Card:

  • Cut an 8-1/2″ square piece of the DSP (or card stock).
  • Score and fold the paper in half.
  • Unfold, score, and fold in half in the opposite direction.
  • Score and fold two corners together to form a triangle.

The first photo is the outside of the DSP after all of the folding, and the second photo is of the inside.

Explosion Heart CardExplosion Heart Card2

  • Using your finger, push in the two corners of the triangle just created.

Explosion Heart Card3

Explosion Heart Card4Explosion Heart Card5

  • Using a heart shaped die or framelit (I used the next to the largest Stampin’ Up!’s retired heart framelits), lay it onto the folded DSP to trace the heart onto the paper.
  • Place the die/framelit close to the bottom closed portion of the DSP, ensuring the open section is at the top.

Explosion Heart Card7Explosion Heart Card8

  • NOTE:  Don’t trace the very bottom of the die/framelit as the bottom must stay folded and uncut.
  • Ensure your tracing starts and ends as shown.

Explosion Heart Card9

  • Using scissors, cut out the heart ensuring you’re cutting through all the layers.

Explosion Heart Card10Explosion Heart Card11Explosion Heart Card12

  • Decorate the outside and inside of your card as desired.  I added a ribbon to ensure the card stays closed.  If you add a ribbon, add it to the top heart BEFORE you adhere any decoration (e.g,. cardstock, etc.) to that heart.  Refer to the second photo above to see where my ribbon was added.
  • Enjoy your card!

If the instructions are confusing, PLEASE feel free to leave me a question or comment in the comments section or by email (address is in the header of the page).
