Power Poppy Apples In Season

Hello, my friends!  This is my second week as a Guest Designer for Splitcoaststampers’ Tuesday Color Challenge.  This week’s challenge is hosted by the wonderful Barbara (bejoyce).  The colors she chose for the challenge are the Stampin’ Up! (SU) colors of Daffodil Delight, Old Olive, and Mossy Meadow.  Her “dessert” (i.e., extra points) is “Summer Treats”.  For my card, I used the Power Poppy Apples In Season Digital Stamp Set for the image.

Power Poppy Apples In Season1_1

After coloring the image, I used a SU Oval Framelit to cut it out.  I then used Neenah Solar White Card Stock as my card base and cut it into the shape of the largest SU Oval Framelit.  I used the SU colors for some of my coloring and Copics for the remainder.

Power Poppy Apples In Season2_1

I also cut a Daffodil Delight oval in the shape of the largest SU Oval Framelits to add a touch of yellow behind the image.  I allowed three Clear Crystal Drops to dry completely and colored them with a yellow marker before adding them as an embellishment.  I colored around the image with a blue copic marker and added the “Thank You”  sentiment from Catherine Pooler’s Butterfly Notes Stamp set, which is unavailable currently.

Power Poppy Apples In Season3_1

Why did I chose this image as my “Summer Treat”?  The Golden Delicious apples remind me of my family’s summer treat of picking apples and making apple sauce, apple butter, apple pies, and so on.  I loved going to my uncle’s to pick the apples from his many and varied, gorgeous apple trees.

Apple blossoms can be various colors, depending upon the type of apple.  Sometimes, a particular tree, such as a Golden Delicious tree, will produce white blossoms while another could produce white/pinkish blossoms.  Therefore, I added just a touch of pink onto the blossoms.

I hope you enjoy the card and will leave a comment!

Rose Flower Fairy

Last week on Splitcoaststampers there were many “Dare To Get Dirty (DTGD)” challenges. To participate in the challenges, you had to be Fan Club Member (i.e., pay a small amount for access to information).  I created this Rose Flower Fairy card in response to Susie’s (aka susieaustralia) challenge, DTGD16susieaustralia.

Rose Flower Fairy_1

The Rose Flower Fairy stamp is one I’ve had for years but never used.  It came in handy for the challenge.  Because the challenge is a secret on Splitcoaststampers, I cannot share what it entailed.  However, you can easily guess just by viewing the Rose Flower Fairy card.  If you’re a Fan Club Member, you don’t have to guess as you already know!

Altenew Peony Bouquet

I am so honored to be a Guest Designer for the Splitcoaststampers Color Challenges during August!  This card is my first card and it’s for this week’s Color Challenge, CC594. The card features the Altenew Peony Bouquet stamp set!  This stamp set is gorgeous and it involves the 3 and 4-step stamping technique.

Altenew Peony Bouquet

The Stampin’ Up! colors featured for the challenge are Watermelon Wonder, Peekaboo Peach, and Pear Pizzazz.

Watermelon Wonder 8-1/2 x 11 Cardstock  Peekaboo Peach 8-1/2 x 11 Cardstock   Pear Pizzazz 8-1/2 x 11 Cardstock

The “dessert” for this challenge is “Flowers or Fruit”.  Thus, I used flowers, the peonies from this gorgeous stamp set (see photo of the set below).

Using the 3 and 4-step stamping technique for this card took more effort as the flowers could only be created using the Watermelon Wonder and Peekaboo Peach colors.  So I learned through making the card that all I had to do was adjust the amount of ink I used for each stamp and each step.  For example, the large peony outline stamp was covered twice with Peekaboo Peach ink and stamped twice.  The next stamp, which was solid, was stamped once with Peekaboo Peach ink.  The third stamp, which is one that added dimension, was inked and stamped three times.  Lastly, the second dimensional stamp was inked with Watermelon Wonder twice and stamped twice.

Altenew Peony Bouquet

I used the same process for the peony bud and foliage.  However, I only had one color for the foliage and that is Pear Pizzazz.  I added three pearls that I colored with a copic marker that closely matches Watermelon Wonder.  Lastly, I added the sentiment, Thanks, with a stamp from Catherine Pooler’s Hand Painted Thanks stamp set.

ODBD Sweet As Perfume

Welcome, crafters!!  Hope your day is going well!  Today’s card share features the ODBD Sweet As Perfume Stamp Set.  (ODBD stands for Our Daily Bread Designs.)  The floral image from this set is a Frangipani!  The Frangipani is also know as the Hawaiian Lei flower.  They come in whites, yellows, pinks, reds, and multiple pastels.  Mine is several colors in the pink family, as I used multiple Copic Sketch Markers to color them.

ODBD Sweet As Perfume_1

I created the card in response to a color challenge on the Splitcoaststampers website. The colors chosen for the challenge are two of the 2016-2018 SU In-Colors – Dapper Denim and Sweet Sugarplum, and one from the 2015-2017 SU In-Colors – Cucumber Crush.

After coloring the floral images, I added the Happy Birthday sentiment from the SU Perfectly Penned stamp set.  To finish the card, I added a bow, three strings of beaded pearls, and three crystal drops.  Here are additional photos of the card.

Merry Christmas Poinsettias

Hi, crafters!!  Today I have a great card to share that is a Merry Christmas card featuring Poinsettias!  Yes, I know, it’s July!!  So why am I sharing a Merry Christmas Poinsettias card?  Well, today on Splitcoaststampers, the Clean and Simple Challenge was to create a Christmas card.  Therefore, I created this card and submitted it for the challenge.

Merry Christmas Poinsettias

To make the card, I created two masks of the Poinsettia stamp using Post-it Labeling Tape. I stamped one Poinsettia, masked it, stamped another, masked it, and so on. I stamped and masked until the white card stock was covered in Poinsettias.

Merry Christmas Poinsettias

I colored the Poinsettias with the below Copic Sketch Markers. It only took me all day to color them!!  I adhered a ribbon across the middle of the card stock, stamped my sentiment, die cut the sentiment, added foam tape to the back of the die cut and mounted it onto the front over the ribbon.

Merry Christmas Poinsettias

I attached this piece to a piece of SU Red Glitter Paper and that to a whisper white card base.

Merry Christmas Poinsettias

I hope you enjoy the Merry Christmas Poinsettias card!  Questions or comments?  Please leave them in the comments section!

Jesus prays for all believers while He was on earth…“My prayer is not for them alone.  I pray also for those who will believe in me through their message, that all of them may be one, Father, just as you are in me and I am in you.  May they also be in us so that the world may believe that you have sent me.”  John 17:20-21

Lovely Flowers

It’s summertime and we are enjoying lovely flowers from our gardens!  Do you have a favorite summertime flower?  As for me, there are so many lovely flowers that it’s difficult for me to pick just one!

For my card share today, I have a beautiful card that was inspired by a Pinterest Board of dozens of beautiful bowls.

Lovely Flowers_1

The following is a photo of the bowl that inspired me.

Ceramic Bowl Flowers Blue Black White Botanicals Painted Floral Turquoise Housewarming Wedding Gift by sewZinski.:

I didn’t think I would like stamping flowers at the top of my card and leaving the bottom as blue card stock in order to replicate the bowl.  Thus, I reversed the placement of the flowers.

Lovely Flowers3_1

I used both the Catherine Pooler Lovely Flowers stamp set and Stampin’ Up! retired Secret Garden stamp set to make the flowers.  The larger flowers are from the Secret Garden Stamp Set, and the small blue ones are from the Catherine Pooler Lovely Flowers stamp set.  Note that I added some color to the bigger flowers as I wanted to give them some dimension.  I used three Copic Sketch Markers in the gray family, C00, C01, and C03, to create shading on the flowers.  I also traced around the flowers with Copic Sketch Marker B91, which is a blue color.  Then I added the small blue flowers from the Lovely Flowers stamp set

Lovely Flowers2_1

I used an Anna Griffin embossing folder of flowers to emboss the blue card stock and cut it with a die to form the wave that is similar to that on the bowl.

Lovely Flowers4_1

To finish the card, I added the sentiment, You’re Amazingly Amazing, which is from Catherine Pooler’s Lovely Flowers stamp set.

Lastly, I submitted this card to a Splitcoaststampers Inspiration Challenge and it was selected as a Favorite of the Week ending July 24, 2016.

Questions and comments are very welcomed!
