SU Flower Shop-ODBD Faith, Hope & Love

SU FLOWER SHOP; ODBD FAITH, HOPE & LOVE

My card share today features the SU Flower Shop Stamp Set and ODBD Faith, Hope & Love Dies.  This card was made for Splitcoaststampers (i.e., Audrie’s (girlgeek101) Village Hat Shop Inspiration Challenge, IC563. She selected this site from which to draw inspiration  for creating a card.  I was inspired by this lovely hat and it was the driver behind this card.

My faith is always my primary focus, and without it I would be lost!  That’s why I chose FAITH as my sentiment.

Ribbon Of Hope

A blessed day to you, and thanks for stopping by.  My card share today features the Stampin’ Up! retired Ribbon of Hope Stamp, and it is in honor of Marg Mortimer (aka Margscardcrazy) who honors us with wonderful creations on  the Splitcoaststampers site. Marg is the “Featured Stamper” this week on Splitcoastampers, and the challenge is to select one of her card to CASE.  This is my card that I CASEd from one of hers:

Ribbon of Hope

Marg has a wonderful gallery on Splitcoaststampers.  As I strolled through her gallery, I saw this card that she made in 2014.  The card spoke to my heart so I selected it for my CASE in honor of her.

In her description of her card, she shared that she created it for a challenge “to make a card with something missing. To let those who have had a mastectomy or double mastectomy know that they are still a whole person. That it’s not what they now look like that makes them who they are. What makes us who we are is how we treat others, what’s in our heads and what’s in our hearts and how we chose to share that with others.. One, whole, beautiful!”  Well, I’m one of the ladies who she is describing.

To create her card, Marg said,  “I cut a strip away from the front panel and then backed the front with some acetate and stamped on the inside of the card so that you could see the image through the card window.”  The piece cut out from the front of her card base represented “something missing”.

Therefore, I cut a strip from the front of my card’s base, and instead of cutting off this piece, I folded it to the back to resemble an easel card.  I then added three lovely Our Daily Bread Designs Flower Lattice die cuts to the front and back strips.

Ribbon of Hope   Ribbon of Hope Ribbon of Hope-4_1

I cut a piece of Neenah Solar White Card Stock for the card’s inside, and stamped the Ribbon of Hope stamp image in Pink Pirouette ink.  I embossed the image with Stampin’ Up! Iridescent Ice Embossing Powder (I believe this powder is unavailable), and attached it to the card’s inside.  I used a sentiment from the Our Daily Bread Designs Healing Prayers to stamp in black Stazon ink onto a piece of window sheet (i.e., acetate) and adhered it to the two front strips.  There is space to write a personal message when you lift the front panel.

Since Breast Cancer Awareness Month is next month, October, I believe this card is timely.  I hope you’ve enjoyed it.

Jesus said to his disciples, “No good tree bears bad fruit, nor does a bad tree bear good fruit.  Each tree is recognized by its own fruit.  People do not pick figs from thornbushes, or grapes from briers.  The good man brings good things out of the good stored up in his heart, and the evil man brings evil things out of the evil stored up in his heart.  For out of the overflow of his heart his mouth speaks.”  Luke 6:43-45

Cottage Cutz Woodland Pine Trees

Hello, and thanks for stopping by.  I have a card for you today that features the Cottage Cutz Woodland Pine Trees Dies and Cottage Cutz Deer Die.  I created the card in response to today’s “Ways To Use It Challenge”, WT599, on Splitcoaststampers website. The hostess for the challenge is the very talented Lisa (Shoe Girl), and she gave us an easy challenge.  She asked that we create a HELLO card.

Cottage Cutz Woodland Pines

To create the card, I cut out the Cottage Cutz Woodland Pine Trees and covered them with FlitterGlu (i.e., a glue for gilding flakes and glitter), to which I added Cosmic Shimmer Mulled Wine Gilding Flakes.  Using a piece of Scoochy Foam, I rubbed the excess flakes from the trees.  This photo shows the aftereffects.

Cottage Cutz Woodland Pine Trees_1

Next, I cut a 3-3/4″ x 5″ piece of Solar White card stock and sponged a sunset scene using Stampin’ Up! orange and green inks. Then, I cut out two hills with the Lawn Fawn Borders Dies.  I sponged Stampin’ Up! Always Artichoke ink onto the two pieces and adhered them together with foam tape.  Using foam tape, I attached the hills to the sunset piece of card stock.

I used the Cottage Cutz Deer Dies to cut out the deer from Solar White Card Stock.  I used Copic Sketch Markers to color them and the antlers.  I then strategically added the trees and deer to the card.

I love the outcome of the card, and I hope you are inspired by it.

The Lord appears to Solomon:  “When Solomon had finished the temple of the Lord and the royal palace, and had succeeded in carrying out all he had to do in the temple of the Lord and in his own palace, the Lord appeared to him at night and said:  “I have heard your prayer and have chosen this place for myself as a temple for sacrifices….if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land.””  2 Chronicles 7:11-12 & 14.

Cottage Cutz Autumn Centerpiece

Today is my last day as a guest designer for the Splitcoaststampers Color Challenge.  I thoroughly enjoyed the opportunity and am grateful for it!   I enjoyed working with such talented ladies!  Today’s Color Challenge is hosted by Mary Marsh (aka MaryR917), and she chose these gorgeous fall colors for the challenge:  Chocolate Chip, Cajun Craze, Crushed Curry, and Garden Green.  Her dessert (i.e., extra points) is “Fall”.  The card I designed for today’s challenge features the Cottage Cutz Autumn Centerpiece Die!

Cottage Cutz Autumn Centerpiece_1

These are the colors for the challenge, and they are from Stampin’ Up (SU):

Chocolate Chip 8-1/2 x 11 Cardstock Cajun Craze 8-1/2 x 11 Cardstock Crushed Curry 8-1/2 x 11 Cardstock Garden Green 8-1/2 x 11 Cardstock

When using the Cottage Cutz Autumn Centerpiece Die, it does not cut out as one piece as the picture (see below) of the die may represent.  It cuts out 19 pieces, of which 6 need to be cut more than once.  Despite this, it’s a wonderful die!  Instead of using card stock of the colors for the Color Challenge, I used Neenah Solar White card stock and colored each piece with Copic Sketch Markers and a couple of SU Markers!  I did use card stock for the sentiment, though.  The sentiment is from an Impression Obsession Die – Holiday Top Word Edgers.

I assembled the card using Kittie Caracciolo’s Bendi Frame technique.  Here’s the tutorial for the technique.  Can you see in the following photos that the top frame is bent?  This allows for more dimension on a card.  Once you’ve checked out the tutorial, you’ll understand.

Cottage Cutz Autumn Centerpiece-4_1 Cottage Cutz Autumn Centerpiece-5

When the card is stood up and under a light, the light shines through the bend on the frame and gives a nice presentation.  Cottage Cutz Autumn Centerpiece-3_1

To include more of the Chocolate Chip ink, I used an old SU tool, the Color Spritzer Tool (retired) and spritzed the ink onto the white panel.  I did the same on the frame but didn’t like it so I sponged on Cajun Craze ink. I attached the frame with two layers of foam tape in order to raise the frame higher to get more pieces attached.  To finish the card, I added foam tape to the ends of the sentiment and attached it to the frame.

I hope you’ve enjoyed my card and are inspired!   Come back soon!!

“For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God.  For it is written:  “I will destroy the wisdom of the wise; the intelligence of the intelligent I will frustrate.”  Where is the wise man? Where is the scholar?  Where is the philosopher of this age?  Has not God made foolish the wisdom of the world?”  1 Corinthians 18-20

Winter Wonderland Scene

It’s Tuesday and that means it another Color Challenge on Splitcoaststampers!  The colors selected for today’s challenge are Stampin’ Up! (SU) Pool Party, Always Artichoke, and Cherry Cobbler!  For extra points (i.e., dessert), I included some “Bling”! My card, a Winter Wonderland Scene, is my submission for the challenge.  This is the third week that I have been a guest designer for the Splitcoaststampers color challenges and I’ve enjoyed it!

Winter Wonderland Scene

My card’s main feature is a Winter Wonderland Scene made with a Cottage Cutz die and Solar White Card Stock.  To break up the white and create a red building, I cut out a second Winter Wonderland Scene using Cherry Cobbler Card Stock.  I cut off the red church from the die cut and adhered it to the original white one.  I also used an Impression Obsession Die to cut and add three cardinals.

Winter Wonderland Scene_1

To get extra points (i.e., dessert) for the card, I added various colors of Stickles glue around the scene!  Hopefully it shows up well enough for you to see the bling.

Winter Wonderland Scene-1_1

Finally, I added a poinsettia on the left-bottom corner that I made with Spellbinders dies. I added Gold Flower Soft to the center of the flower.

Color Blocking Happy Birthday

My friends, today is Saturday and that means it is time for an Inspiration Challenge!  That is, an Inspiration Challenge on Splitcoaststampers.  Audrie (girlgeek101) provided a great Pinterest board to be inspired by, which is a color blocking board. Audrie always picks great sites for inspiration. This is the card I created for the color blocking inspiration challenge, and it is a Happy Birthday card.

Color Blocking Happy Birthday

My card is made from card stock, ribbon, dies and a metal buckle…no ink or stamps. I designed it around my two inspiration pieces: 1) this shoe image, and 2)  this color-blocked dress

Of all the images on the board, the shoe and dress caught my eye because of the colors and shapes. The shoe’s colors, heel and buckle inspired the left side of my card (i.e. turquoise and pink blocks and a large buckle). The dress inspired the shape and color of all the blocks on the card. I threaded a black ribbon through the buckle to resemble the strip of black fabric running at an angle near the mid-section of the dress. To finish the card, I added the happy birthday sentiment and a silhouette of poppies.
