Memory Box Reverse Butterfly Collage

Hello! Have you had a good week? For me, I’ve been sick for several days with flu-like symptoms. I’m feeling better, but not well, and I’m hoping this passes soon as I want to get back to crafting! I made this card Tuesday morning, but then started feeling rather sick. Needless to say I wasn’t feeling well enough to post it. Thus, today I am sharing it with you. This card is a Mother’s Day Card and it features the Memory Box Reverse Butterfly Collage. The Happy Mother’s Day sentiment is on the inside of the card.

I made the card in response to a Splitcoaststampers Color Challenge, CC581 – BLISSFUL WONDERS OF SOFT SKIES WITH PIZZAZZ, using Stampin’ Up! colors. The title of the Challenge makes it obvious what Stampin’ Up! colors were selected.

I used the Memory Box Reverse Butterfly Collage Die to make a stencil. Laying the stencil over the piece of Whisper White Card Stock, I sponged over it the four colors of the challenge. I added a sequin per butterfly as adding sequins to the card gives extra points, otherwise called “dessert”, for the challenge.

After masking the image, I lightly covered a script background stamp with Soft Sky Ink and I stamped it over the masked image (if you look closely you can see the script). I then die cut three sets of flowers and leaves in the four colors and added them to the card. As you can see in the picture below, I added micro beads for the center of each flower.

You will note the paper piercing around the Whisper White panel. I used the new Our Daily Bread Designs (ODBD) Pierced Rectangles Dies to accomplish the piercing. I also used two other ODBD dies to create the floral images; ODBD Bitty Blossoms and ODBD Lovely Leaves.

Side Note: As a Christian, finding companies with a focus on Biblical verses and other related products is difficult. However, late last year I discovered Our Daily Bread Designs that focuses on this, and I strongly recommend them if you’re looking for a place that creates products based on faith!

A Prayer for our nation on the National Day of Prayer

Dear heavenly Father, we come to You today as a humble people desperate for Your intervention on behalf of our beloved nation. First, we thank You for all the blessings You have bestowed on our land, blessings that have allowed us to bring so much good and benefit to not only our own citizens but also to the rest of the world. The very ideals upon which this country was founded were based on biblical truths.

This is why our hearts are so broken over how You continue to be marginalized and dismissed by both our people and our institutions. We are also saddened by the fact that Your people have contributed greatly to the spiritual apathy that now engulfs us. Our satisfaction in remaining religious without being fully committed to living out the truths of Your Word has caused us to become co-conspirators with the forces of evil that are destroying us as a society.

It is for this reason that we personally and collectively repent of our sins and recommit ourselves to becoming visible and verbal disciples of Jesus Christ. Enable us, by Your Spirit, to no longer be secret agent Christians but rather to publicly declare and live out Your truth in a spirit of love so that You feel welcome in our country once again. Thank You for Your promise to hear our prayers when we call to You with hearts of repentance and obedience, which is how we are appealing to You today, Father. On behalf of Your church, we affirm afresh the priority You are to us that You would fill every dimension of our lives as we seek to bring You glory through the advancement of Your kingdom in our personal lives, our family lives, and in the lives of our churches and our government leaders. We confidently invite heaven’s intervention into all the affairs of our nation and we praise You in advance for Your answer.

SU Papillon Potpourri

Today’s card share features the SU Papillon Potpourri Stamp Set, along with the SU Creative Elements Stamp Set and ODBD Many Thanks Stamp Set. However, the main feature is the five beautiful butterflies stamped, using the old Rock ‘n’ Roll Technique. If you’e not familiar with this technique, there is a great tutorial on Splitcoastampers (SCS).

This card is for today’s SCS Technique Lovers Challenge, TLC584 ~ Everything Old is New Again (Rock ‘n’ Roll), hosted by the very talented Sabrina (Cook22), a SCS member. This following is a closeup of the butterflies that are embellished with crystals.

ODBD Dresden Quilt Die

Happy Friday, my friends!!! My project for you today features Our Daily Bread Designs (ODBD) Dresden Quilt Die. The ODBD Dresden Quilt Die was released, among other wonderful products, on April 1. The ODBD’s product release focused on quilts through dies, stamps, and designer paper. Below is a picture of the ODBD Dresden Quilt Die. Here is the card I made using the die. If you look closely at the die and card, you’ll notice that I made a modification to the die cuts.

I think the colors of the ODBD designer papers really look great on the card. I made the card yesterday in response to a “Ways To Use It” Challenge on Splitcoaststampers. The Challenge, WT581, Playing Safe, was hosted by Toni (aka ravengirl) and was in recognition of National Playground Safety Week. The challenge was to “break out some of your favorite toy images” and feature one in a project.

When I read the challenge, I started reminiscing about my children as youngsters and how they loved sitting at the table with Mom, putting together puzzles, one of their favorite “toys”! Well, the word, puzzle, was the trigger for me and my project.

I immediately thought of ODBD’s April Release related to quilts. Why? To me, crafting with the ODBD released quilt dies requires putting together a “puzzle”, and it takes time, or at least for me. Therefore, the quilt represents the puzzles my children loved. And they were in a safe environment, as they were sitting with me playing with puzzles and not playing on the playground! Of course they had other favorite “toys” and certainly played on a playground!

I am also entering this card for the Our Daily Bread Designs, ODBDSLC273 O-D-B-D Recipe Challenge. The recipe challenge is to use 4 items, materials or techniques beginning with each letter in ODBD. The following is my response:

SU Birthday Blooms

Hello and thanks for stopping by!! My card share today features the SU Birthday Blooms Stamp Set.

(UPDATE: The WONDERFUL news about this card is that it was selected as the favorite card for the week of those submitted to Splitcoaststampers Color Challenge (see below) last Tuesday).

As alluded to above, I created this card to submit to a Splitcoaststampers (SCS) Color Challenge, CC580 – Daffodil Island Garden. The colors for the challenge are Daffodil Delight, Island Indigo, and Garden Green, which are Stampin’ Up! colors. Vicki Dutcher (vdutcher), SCS member, was the wonderful host who selected these colors for the challenge. I love blues and yellows together, so I enjoyed this challenge; it was a great color combination.

Vicki offered “dessert” if leaves were included in participants’ submission. As you can see, they are part of the floral image on my card.

I stamped the floral image in VersaMark, added white embossing powder, and heat set it. I used the ZIG pens to watercolor the floral image, using colors as close as possible to those for the challenge. I got a little heavy-handed with the blue color at first, as this was the first time I’ve used the ZIG pens. After completion, I fussy cut the image and adhered it to a double-stitched Whisper White circle that is framed with a Garden Green double-stitched frame.

I used Daffodil Delight card stock for my card base. I added a piece of designed acetate for the first layer, and it is from an old SU designer series paper (don’t recall the name). Then I used a old and wide piece of blue SU ribbon, stamping on my “Thank You” greeting.

Our Daily Bread Designs Star Quilt Die

Welcome, my artistic friends! Today I’ve created for you a Mother’s Day card that features Our Daily Bread Designs Star Quilt Die. At the beginning of April, Our Daily Bread Designs (ODBD) released a new set of stamps, dies, and paper that focus on sewing and quilting. You can see the gorgeous new items HERE.

I purchased the new products when released, but haven’t used them until I made this card. Actually, I was a little intimidated by the many pieces to the dies. Now that I’m made this card, I feel more confident.

I LOVE Our Daily Bread Designs products! This quilting release is so beautiful and reminds me of days gone by when I would sit and watch my dear Mom produce quilts, embroidery pieces, and develop other beautiful crafts.

UPDATE: This card was included in Splitcoaststampers Favorites for the Week ending April 24!

The above photo gives you a closeup of the “quilt”. Although Our Daily Bread Designs released designer paper to go with the dies in the release, I decided to use Stampin’ Up! Love Blossoms Designer Series Paper for this design. After die cutting the quilting frame, I added SU Crystal Effects to give it some shine. If you look closely, you can see that. I also added a green embroidery thread knot in the center of the “quilt”. I thought that would be quite appropriate.

This closeup shows the bottom portion of the card. I used Our Daily Bread Designs Quilted With Love Stamp Set for my sentiment, “Love you to pieces!”. I used VersaMark ink and a green embossing powder on the sentiment. I love the two pairs of scissors and spool of thread die cuts that are from Spellbinders. I wrapped green embroidery thread around the spool and threaded it through the green pair of scissors to make it appear that the thread is being cut. Both pairs of scissors are highlighted with SU Crystal Effects.

Lastly, I created this card in response to a Splitcoaststampers Sketch Challenge, seen HERE. (I almost forgot to mention that!)
