Stampin Up Retiring Products

My friends, today is it!!  It’s the last day to order Stampin Up retiring products!

Every year Stampin’ Up! says a fond farewell to retiring products.  This year, we are saying good-bye to HUNDREDS of stamps and accessories from the 2011-2012 Catalog.  When these products officially retire today, at 11:50 P.M. Mountain Time, they are gone forever.

You may want to take a last look at the retiring products at this LINK to make sure you got all the items you wanted.

Tomorrow is the debut of the new 2012-2013 Catalog (Woohoo!!!).  If you don’t have it in your hot little hands already, let me know!  There are so many new and fun products that become available.  Get your order ready!

Direct to Paper Technique

Did everyone has a good Memorial Day remembering the holiday’s real purpose?  I don’t know how you feel, but I don’t like the commercialization of this holiday.
I’ll not get on my soap box and move on.  I decided for my project share today to try for the first time the Direct to Paper Technique where you use a swiping motion with stamp pads or spots to apply ink to card stock.  It really was quite simple.  Again, this was my first try, so don’t be too hard on me! (lol)

I used a Getting Started Collection of Classic Stampin’ Spots (119979) to apply Marina Mist, Certainly Celery, Old Olive, Early Espresso, and Pumpkin Pie inks.  To my knowledge, there are no special tricks to this technique ~ it’s a form of art for which you decide how to use.

I added the expired Sale-A-Bration Everyday Enchantment Organdy Calypso Coral Ribbon at the bottom of the card.  The sentiment, enjoy, is from the Fabulous Phrases Stamp Set (120501) and it was applied to Whisper White card stock with Calypso Coral ink.  I used one of the new Bitty Banners Framelits (129267) to create the sentiment.  And the wonderful stamp set that I hate to see go, Plant Hope (117042) was used for the tree images.  This Thursday, May 31, is the last day to buy this stamp set.  Enjoy!

Papaya Collage Stamp Set and Floral District DSP

Isn’t he so cute; the bird that is?  He’s looking at himself in the mirror!  This card features a Stampin’ Up! stamp set that debuts on June 1!  It is called Papaya Collage Stamp Set (126612).  All of the stamp images are from this set.  The designer series paper (DSP) used is the beautiful Floral District DSP (126919) that also debuts on June 1!

I used faux metal peel and stick easy liner (from Home Depot) to create the mirror.  I think it worked quite well.  What do you think?  The below picture is a closeup of the bird.  The following picture shows a slight reflection of him in the mirror.

I really like how the frame turned out.  I used the Pewter Embossing Powder (124114) on the frame, cut it out, and covered it with a new ink color from the 2012-2014 In Colors, the Primrose Petals (126858).  This same color in card stock forms the card base.  Enjoy!

This card features the Baroque Motifs Stamp Set (113490); Tea Shoppe Stamp Set (125547); one of the new 2012-2014 In Colors (126838), Gumball Green Card Stock (126840); Basic Black Card Stock (121045); a new ribbon, Daffodil Delight Stitched Grosgrain Ribbon (126872); a retiring punch, Modern Label (119849); two retiring magnetic movers and shapers, Movers & Shapers Curly Label and Punch Windows (114506 and 115953, respectively); VersaMark Pad (102283); Black Embossing Powder (109133); and 3/16″ Brads – Brights Collection (119740).  Enjoy!

Zentangle Maple Leaf

I love creating art using zentangling, therefore, I have for you today a Zentangle Maple Leaf card.  Actually, the correct action word is tangling when speaking of performing the art.

I think the fall time of the year is so beautiful, and I don’t get to experience the beautiful transformation of trees while living in Florida. To create my own feel of the fall, I made this Zentangle Maple Leaf card.

 Zentangle Maple Leaf

I used eight different, official Zentangle® patterns on the maple leaf. The fun of zentangling is that you can create your own patterns if desired; however, I choose official patterns.

For some history about Zentangle®, it is a new form of art created by Maria Thomas and Rick Roberts. Because I am not a Certified Zentangle® Teacher, I prefer not to attempt to teach how to zentangle. However, you can learn more about this new art on Maria and Rick’s website, http://www.zentangle.com.

As for the Stampin’ Up! products used for the card, they are:

Mocha Morning Designer Series Paper Purse, Wallet, and Card

Today I have a cutie for you – a Mocha Morning Designer Series Paper Purse, Wallet, and Birthday Card!  I personally designed the gorgeous Mocha Morning Designer Series Paper Purse, a small matching wallet, and birthday card. I wish you could feel the black velvet on this designer series paper (DSP) – such a luscious DSP.  If you do not have this DSP, you must buy it. It is so gorgeous and you certainly will be happy with your Mocha Morning Designer Series Paper creations!

Mocha Morning Designer Series Paper Purse

The pictures below are of each item in the set. Unfortunately, my camera is on its last leg and is not taking very good pictures. I guess it’s time for a new one!

This picture shows the small wallet and Happy Birthday Card inside the purse. As you can see, there is plenty room for them, as well as other cards or items (i.e., keys for your daughter’s new car!).

The purse is 7″ x 4-1/2″ x 1″, and the wallet 4″ x 2-3/4″ x 1/2″. The Mocha Morning Designer Series purse has an outside pocket in which a gift card could be placed. The small matching wallet will hold easily a gift card, money, etc. The set would be a great birthday gift for a daughter or special friend.

The Stampin’ Up! products used for the Mocha Morning Designer Series Purse, Wallet, and Card are (buy these products by clicking on the links):
