July 4th God Bless America

Today’s Splitcoaststampers Clean and Simple Challenge, CAS383, “Good Ole Red, White & Blue” is to create a card with any theme, technique, and/or any embellishment, but to use only Red, White and Blue colors!   Red, white, and blue means one thing to me – July 4th and God’s blessings upon America.  Therefore, I created this card, July 4th God Bless America.  I tried to keep this card as simple as I could, which is difficult for me.

July 4th God Bless American

I used the Our Daily Bread Designs (ODBD) God Bless America flag stamp covered with black ink to stamp a flag image onto white paper. I colored it with copics and cut out the star with ODBD Star Dies. Hopefully you can see the star embossing on the white card base that I created with a Stampin’ Up! Stars embossing folder.

ODBD My Soul Thirsts Stamp Set

Early this week, I prepared a card in response to a Splitcoaststampers Color Challenge. Peggy (pegmac71), the challenge host, brought to us beautiful colors for the Color Challenge, CC588 – A Perfect Smoky Pirouette. The colors she selected are SU Pink Pirouette, Perfect Plum, and Smoky Slate. These are beautiful colors together.

I used two stamp sets on the card:  ODBD My Soul Thirsts Stamp Set, and Stampin’ Up! Birthday Blooms Stamp Set.  I love the Psalm 42:2 verse included on the card, which is from the ODBD My Soul Thirsts Stamp Set.

ODBD My Soul Thirsts Stamp Set

For my card, I used several copic sketch markers that are close to the selected colors to color the floral image on the card, which is from the Stampin’ Up! Birthday Blooms Stamp Set. I blended both the pink and plum copic colors on the flowers’ petals and a gray on the leaves. I had not blended the pink and plum copic colors before, and I must say I like the outcome.  This photo provides a closeup of the image.

JUNE 26, 2016 UPDATE:  Card was included in Splitcoaststampers Favorites of the Week.

ODBD My Soul Thirsts Stamp Set

I must say that I’m enjoying more and more the use of the copic sketch markers.  Learning to create shading and blending takes some time, but it’s worth it.

At the top left of the card (see above photo), I modified a Spellbinders Die to create a corner piece.  I felt the card needed that additional touch.

Enjoy the card and thanks for your comments!

“When he comes, he will convict the world of guilt in regard to sin and righteousness and judgment: in regard to sin, because men do not believe in me; in regard to righteousness, because I am going to the Father, where you can see me no longer; and in regard to judgment, because the prince of this world now stands condemned.”  John 16:8-11

Father’s Day Card – Part 2

Yesterday I posted a photo of the Father’s Day card I made for my son-in-law.  I asked for viewers to guess what the card represents.  I gave you a clue that it is something that most men want in their garage!  Here’s the photo again.

Father's Day Card - Part 2

Thanks to those who emailed me their guess!  The photo below will definitely give you the answer.

Father's Day Card Part 2

It’s a 3-drawer tool cabinet!  When you pull open the first drawer (or pull down…lol), you see tools that most men, and women, will use:  hammer, nail, measuring tape, and drill.  I certainly use these tools regularly!

When you pull open the second drawer, you’ll see a bolt, mallet, and channel-lock tongue and grove pliers.

Father's Day Card-Part 2

Pulling open the third drawer, you’ll see a screwdriver, wrench, and needle nose pliers.

Father's Day Card Part 2

The three drawers and their contents are on the front part of the card and the inside contains my Happy Father’s Day greetings.  I die cut and colored with copics the tools in the cabinet.  The tools die cuts are from Our Daily Bread Designs Workshop Tools and Tool Time die sets.

Just for the record, my son-in-law LOVED the card.  I hope you enjoyed it and will leave any questions or comments in the comments section or send me an email!  Have a great day!

Cottage Cutz Hummingbird

Hello, my friends!  I am hoping to get back into crafting on a part-time basis at least, and I have for you today a card made with the beautiful Cottage Cutz Hummingbird die.  I die cut the pieces and colored them with copic sketch markers.

Cottage Cutz Hummingbird

The card base is white as well as the first layer that I embellished with a floral embossing folder.  I embossed the bottom portion of this layer very lightly as that is where I’ll place the sentiment when I decide on the recipient of the card.

The photo below is a closeup of the flowers and hummingbird.  I used a clear Wink of Stella Brush to add a shine and glitter to the bird’s wings, and drops of Stampin’ Up! Crystal Effects onto the floral portion of the card.  Hopefully, you can see that in the photo. Actually, I think you can see it better in the first photo…LOL.

JUNE 26, 2016 UPDATE:  Card was included in both the Splitcoaststampers Favorites of the Week, and CAS Favorites.

Cottage Cutz Beach Scene

Hello, my friends!!  I’m trying to get back into creating after being sick for weeks and unable to craft.  I appreciate your patience in waiting for my return.  Today I have for you a Cottage Cutz Beach Scene card, created with several Cottage Cutz nautical dies.

Cottage Cutz Beach Scene

Nautical scenes are not my norm in card making; however, I have seen recently the Cottage Cutz nautical dies and thought they are so cute and perfect for beach scenes.  I couldn’t resist buying them!  These nautical dies are small ones but easy to work with. They are the main features on my card, which I made as a “Thank You” card for my son-in-law who loves the beach.

This photo is a closeup of the die cut from Cottage Cutz Paddles & Rope Ladder (Net) die. The net and fish are fun to use.  If you are thinking, “Orange fish??”, let me clear that up for you.  LOL  Grouper fish come in various colors and orange is one of them.

Cottage Cutz Beach Scene_1

The following photo is a closeup of the two pelicans made with the Cottage Cutz Pelican Die.  I attached one of the fish die cuts from the Cottage Cutz Paddles & Rope Ladder (Net) Die to the pelican’s beak.  Have you ever seen a live pelican?  WOW, a pelican’s beak is HUGE!!!  Living in Florida near the beach is a blessing as I get to see these, and other, gorgeous birds.

Cottage Cutz Beach Scene4_1

The next photo is of the Cottage Cutz Rope Corner Die.  The rope and float are two die cuts that are glued together.  The die includes an anchor also that can be attached to the rope.  The cloud in the background, as well as the other two seen in the first photo, were made with the Cottage Cutz Lighthouse w/ Clouds Die.  I didn’t take time to provide dimension to them.

Cottage Cutz Beach Scene5_1

The frame around the scene was created with Our Daily Bread Designs Double Stitched Rectangles Dies.  I cut tree rectangles and glued them together for dimension.
