Santa’s Sleigh

Hope you had a great weekend and a happy Monday!  Today’s card share is a Christmas Card featuring the Sizzix Santa’s Sleigh Bigz Die.  I made the card in response to Splitcoaststampers’ Saturday Inspiration Challenge.  For an Inspiration Challenge, a website is selected by the hostess of the challenge from which to draw inspiration.  The hostess of Saturday’s challenge, the talented Audrie (a.k.a. girlgeek101), provided this inspirational website.  I selected the ornament category under the house and home drop-down menu on the site.  I found this ornament and fell in love with it.  Therefore, it was the inspiration for my card.

Santa's Sleigh

I created the blue, starry background by sponging Stampin’ Up! Pacific Point and Basic Black ink onto a piece of white card stock.  I used a mask to create the moon and sponged on it Stampin’ Up! Whisper White ink.  Then I used a Silver Gel Pen to create the stars.  I intentionally left some sponge marks in the sky to give it a look of a cloudy sky.

Santa's Sleigh

The primary element on the card is the Santa’s Sleigh that I created with the old Sizzix Bigz Die.  Actually, the die is meant for creating a 3-D pop-up sleigh, but I only wanted one side of the sleigh.  I used pieces of Stampin’ Up! (SU) Real Red Card Stock and SU Gold Foil Sheet that I embossed with a SU Holly Embossing Folder.

For the Santa and his toy bag, I used old Sizzix Santa Set Dies, which are three of the older Sizzlits.  His toy bag contains a gift and teddy bear among other gifts.  I have had both the sleigh and Santa set for years and never used them until I made this card!

Santa's Sleigh

I used the CottageCutz Santa & Reindeer Flying Die to create the black/shadow reindeer flying in the air and pulling Santa’s sleigh.  Of course I had to give Rudolph his red nose!  Unfortunately, one of Santa’s gifts fell out of his sleigh and onto a snow bank! Therefore, Santa is pulling back on the reins to slow down his reindeer so he can retrieve the gift!  Unfortunately, he was not successful and someone will be without a gift on Christmas morning!  LOL

Speaking of the snow banks, I created three of them using the Lawn Fawn Stitched Hillside Borders and white card stock.  I covered each with a strong adhesive (i.e., Be Creative Sookwang Tape), and covered them with retired Stampin’ Up! Chunky Essentials White Glitter.  Using my hand, I pressed firmly on the glitter to adhere it to the adhesive.  Because the adhesive is so strong, the glitter does not fall off.  For the sentiment, I used Our Daily Bread Designs Merry Christmas Border die and adhered the cutout to the bottom snow bank prior to adding the glitter.

The layered snow banks are better seen in this photo.  I adhered them to the card with double-sided foam tape.

This card was great fun to make!  I especially like it because it will be my 2-year old granddaughter’s Christmas card!  Thanks for stopping by!  Have a blessed week!

Glittering Glass Santa Digital Stamp

Hello, and thanks for stopping by!  Today my card share features the Power Poppy Glittering Glass Santa Digital Stamp.  I love this image, which was inspired by old fashioned glass ornaments from Germany.  I decided to color the ornament in non-traditional Christmas colors, and I love how it turned out!

I created my card in response to a Splitcoaststamper Sketch Challenge.  This is the sketch.

Because the image is digital, I resized it six times; one for the main image, and five for the #5 pieces of the sketch. I colored all six images with Copic Markers that closely match the SU Pool Party color, the primary color of the card.

After adhering the ribbon, designer series paper pieces, and main image to the card base, I used four different punches to cut Silver Glimmer Paper to mat the five miniature Santa images. I attached these at different levels using foam tape.  This gives the effect of the Russian Nesting Dolls.

Mondo Poinsettia

My card share today features the Essentials by Ellen Mondo Poinsettia Stamp Set. The poinsettia stamp set is gorgeous and it is large.  Therefore, my card is 5″ x 7″.  I created the card in response to a Color Challenge on Splitcoaststampers, as well as a Pin-Sights Challenge at Ellen Hutson LLC Classroom.  As of this posting, the Essentials by Ellen Mondo Poinsettia Stamp Set is unavailable.  However, you can enter your email address on the site and be notified when, and if, it is restocked.

The color combination for the color challenge was Stampin’ Up! Cherry Cobbler, Mossy Meadow, and Pool Party.  I used these colors in card stock, but I colored the poinsettia with closely related Copic Sketch Marker colors.  The Ellen Hutson Pin-Sights Challenge involves viewing and being inspired by holiday photos on the site.  One photo, which inspired this card, is of poinsettia garland around a fire place.  The garland and adjacent decorations are beautiful.  The photo is in the top row, third from the left in the below.

For the Mossy Meadow border, I used the Spellbinders Holly Frame Dies to cut out the frame.  This frame is quite intricate and sometimes I experience difficulty getting all the leaves and swirls to cut out.  But the dies are worth it as they create beautiful art.

Thanks for stopping in to see my Mondo Poinsettia card!

Penny Black Let’s Chill

Has the weather changed to cooler or cold temperatures in your area?  Many people on social media are welcoming colder weather and snow.  I live in Florida and I mostly have sunny weather.  Thinking about colder weather, I made a card that will give you a chill as it is a cold, wintry scene.  The main feature on the card is the Penny Black Let’s Chill stamp image.

penny-black-lets-chill_1

Isn’t she cute all dressed up in her best winter coat, hat, scarf, and boots?  I think so. The wind is blowing, snow is falling, and temperature is chilly.  But she is warmly wrapped and enjoying the snow along with her little friend sitting on the snowy branch, the red cardinal.

I submitted this card for three Splitcoaststampers challenges:

1.  CC611 – Color Challenge using Real Red, Wild Wasabi, and Very Vanilla,
2.  F4A354 – Free for All Challenge to create with Snow, and
3.  MIX201 – Mix-Ability Challenge, Anything Goes.

For the Color Challenge, my beautiful little girl is wearing red and green, and she is standing beneath a Very Vanilla snowy tree branch that is holding my favorite bird – a cardinal.  She also is standing in mounds of snow, which is for the Free for All Challenge, and it is pouring down snow.  I made the card with die cuts, alcohol inks, Stickles, and Liquid Appliqué for the Mix-Ability Challenge.

Bubbles Girl – Mo’s Digital Pencil

Hello, my crafting friends!  This evening I have a card share that features a digital stamp, the Bubbles Girl – Mo’s Digital Pencil.  My soon-to-be two-year granddaughter loves blowing bubbles, so I decided this image will be perfect for her birthday card.  She loves pink and yellow, thus I used the two colors when creating the card.

After coloring the image with various Copic Markers on a piece of white card stock, I cut it out using a Spellbinders oval die.  With the remaining card stock, I centered a rectangle die over the negative oval piece and cut out a rectangle with a CottageCutz Double-Stitched Rectangle Die.  Using an Our Daily Bread Designs Pierced Rectangles Die, I cut out a second piece of white card stock.

I adhered the first rectangle to the second, placing the image cut out within the first rectangle.  Using a strong adhesive, I attached these panels to a Pixie Pink card base.

Lastly, I stamped the Happy Birthday sentiment on two corners, added sequins to the other two corners, and embellished the bubbles with Glossy Accents.happy-birthday-bubbles3_1

I submitted this card for today’s Clean and Simple Challenge on Splitcoaststampers. This challenge is to make a birthday card for someone whose birthday is in the winter time.  My granddaughter’s birthday is in December.

Enjoy and thanks for leaving comments!

Jesus said to his disciples:

“If the world hates you, keep in mind that it hated me first.  If you belonged to the world, it would love you as its own.  As it is, you do not belong to the world, but I have chosen you out of the world.  That is why the world hates you.  Remember these words, ‘No servant is greater than his master.’ “

Tim Holtz Mixed Media Christmas Dies

Christmas is rapidly approaching, and I am enjoying making Christmas cards.  I think Christmas cards are my favorite to make!  My card share is a Christmas card that features the Tim Holtz Mixed Media Christmas Dies.  These dies are corner dies, and I love them.

holly-and-poinsettias_1

The poinsettias on the bottom right of the card were created with one of the Tim Holtz Mixed Media Christmas Dies.  I used the Inlay Technique to create that corner.  But first, I embossed a piece of white card stock with the Stampin’ Up! Falling Snow Embossing Folder.  Then I cut out the corner of the embossed white card stock with the Tim Holtz’s poinsettias die.  I removed the pieces from the white card stock and adhered two 2.5″ pieces of a very strong adhesive to the back of the piece of card stock where the cut out is located.

Using the same die and pieces of Stampin’ Up! Real Red and Always Artichoke card stock, I cut out the poinsettias’ petals and holly leaves and berries.  Trying to keep the cut out pieces within the die with both the red and green card stock, I laid them over the cut out section on the white card stock, matching them exactly.  Then I used a Paper-Piercing Tool to push each piece onto the white card stock, thus creating an inlay.

The holly and berries were made with the Tim Holtz Holiday Greens dies and adhered to the top left corner of the card.  The Merry Christmas sentiment in the center at an angle is from the Catherine Pooler Hip Holiday Stamp Set which is currently unavailable.

“The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not be in want.  He makes me lie down in green pastures, He leads me beside quiet waters, He restores my soul.  He guides me in the paths of righteousness for His name’s sake.  Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for You are with me; Your rod and your staff, they comfort me.”  Psalm 23
