ODBD Steampunk Gears

Today I have a card share for you, and it features the ODBD Steampunk Gears Dies. This card is not my typical artwork, and making it was out of my comfort zone. However, I wanted to make it for a Splitcoaststampers.com Dare To Get Dirty Challenge. Unfortunately, I cannot share the details of the Dare To Get Dirty Challenge per Splitcoaststampers.com.  If you are a Club Member, you already know the details.  If you are not, you can join Splitcoaststampers as a Club Member so you can participate in the challenges.

To create the card, I die cut the gears using the ODBD Steampunk Gears Dies.   I covered the gears with VersaMark® Watermark Ink and embossed them with Copper, Green, Black, Pewter, and Yellow embossing powder.  Then I attach two or more gears together with adhesive.

I sponged several Tim Holtz Distress Oxide Inks (e.g., blues, greens, yellow, brown, orange, etc.) onto a piece of Neenah Solar White Card Stock.   I stamped over the sponged on ink some text and designs.  Then I began adding the gears to the panel. On three sets of gears, I added one or two layers of foam tape.  In addition to the foam tape, I attached the gear sets to the card stock with black brads.

After adding the gears, I added a sentiment.  I attached it with two gears and black brads.

I cut a piece of copper foil and added it to the back of the above panel.

To finish the card, I cut an A2 piece of black card stock and added the above to the card base.

Considering I was out of my comfort zone making this card, please share how you think I did.  Thanking you in advance for your comments.

Guneaux Designs ODBD Bird of Paradise

Welcome to Guneaux Designs, and thanks for stopping by to see my latest craft project, the Guneaux Designs ODBD Bird of Paradise (ALOHA) card.  For some time I have looked for a Bird of Paradise stamp and die set.  I was so pleased to see that Our Daily Bread Designs had issued one it its July 2017 release!  This is the card I made with the ODBD Bird of Paradise stamp and matching die.

I submitted this card for a Splitcoaststampers.com challenge.  Lisa’s (Shoe Girl) hosted the Splitcoaststampers.com Thursday “Ways to Use It” (WTUI) challenge, “Let’s Warm It Up”.  The heat that a lot of the US is experiencing was the impetus for Lisa’s WTUI challenge. Therefore, she wanted to see “hot” cards.

The beautiful Bird of Paradise flower came to mind for the challenge as it requires a good amount of sunlight (i.e., hot).  Therefore, the new ODBD Bird of Paradise stamp and matching die were used for my card.

My card has no layers; it’s simply a card base that I die cut the front at an angle with a border die to create a fancy border.  The following photos show the process of developing the card base.

  • I cut an 8-1/2″ x 5-1/2″ piece of white card stock and folded it in the center in order to determine where to place my border die.  Then I unfolded it and placed a Heartfelt Creations Delicate Border Basics Die across the front at an angle.

  • I ran the card stock and die through my die-cutting machine to cut out the border. This photo shows the result.

  • I folded the card base again after cutting the border, and this photo shows the results.

Then I began developing the card.  I first stamped and colored the Birds of Paradise on the front.  Subsequently, I masked the Birds of Paradise and sponged the front and inside of the card base with various inks to create a landscape scene.  I added the sentiment to the inside of the card and it shows as the front of the card when the card is closed.  My personal message to the recipient will be added behind the card front and to a portion of the inside.

Then I stamped, colored, and die cut two Birds of Paradise and attached them to the front with double-sided foam tape. The following photo provides a closeup of the Birds of Paradise.

The next two photos provide a better view of the card front and the shape of the border that I die cut.

May you find inspiration from my card.  Thanks in advance for leaving comments!

Papertrey Ink Gran’s Garden

Today’s card share features two Papertrey Ink stamp sets – the Papertrey Ink Gran’s Garden and Papertrey Ink Pen and Ink.

I created this card for three challenges on  Splitcoaststampers.com.

1. Technique Lovers Challenge – Use bubble wrap,

2. Clean And Simple Challenge – Create a friendship card, and

3. Color Challenge – Use SU Daffodil Delight, Wild Wasabi, and Pacific Point colors.

I used the Papertrey Ink Gran’s Garden Stamp Set to stamp, and double stamp, the floral images on the card in SU Daffodil Delight, Wild Wasabi, and Pacific Point inks. The sentiment, stamped in Pacific Point ink, is from the Papertrey Ink’s Pen & Ink stamp set.

I had a small piece of bubble wrap that I covered in Daffodil Delight ink and stamped on the upper-left and bottom-right corners.  I adhered three yellow floral sequins over the bubble wrap imprint on both corners.

This is a clean and simply card!  Enjoy!

Hebrews 13:4 & 5

“Marriage should be honored by all, and the marriage bed kept pure, for God will judge the adulterer and all the sexually immoral.  Keep your lives free from the love of money and be content with what you have, because God has said, ‘Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you.’ “

Guneaux Designs Heartfelt Creations Festive Holly Cardinal

Have you seen the Heartfelt Creations Festive Holly designer paper?  It is so gorgeous!  It is featured on this Guneaux Designs Heartfelt Creations Festive Holly Cardinal card.

The Heartfelt Creations Festive Holly Collection designer paper features cardinals, deer, snowflakes, poinsettias, wagon wheels, fence, holly, and much more.  If you want to get an early start on making Christmas cards for 2017, this beautiful paper is great to use and it won’t disappoint you!

To create this card, I cut a 6″ x 12″ piece of Stampin’ Up! (SU) Cherry Cobbler card stock and scored it at the 3″ and 6″ measurements to form my card base.  I used one of the 12″ x 12″ pieces of Heartfelt Creations Festive Holly Collection designer paper and cut it into sections that fit onto the card base.

The second and third panel eventually will include a personal message for the recipient of the card.  The beautiful cardinal on the first panel is from the Hero Arts Color Layering Cardinal stamp set.  This cardinal goes perfectly with the Healtfelt Creations Festive Holly Collection Designer Paper as it features lots of cardinals.  I stamped the cardinal onto a circular piece of Neenah Solar White Card Stock with SU Rose Red and Cherry Cobbler Classic Ink and Memento Tuxedo Black ink.  I added some pine needles, holly, and crystal clear glitter.  I used the  Heartfelt Creations Festive Holiday Die to cut two SU Wild Wasabi lacy die cuts, which I glued together.  I attached the cardinal piece to this and then to the front panel of the card.  I also added crystal glitter onto the lacy die cuts.

I submitted this card to the Splitcoaststampers.com Color Challenge to use SU Cherry Cobbler, Whisper White, and Garden Green colors on a card, and a Free For All Challenge to create a “Winter in July” card.

To provide you with an idea about the designs on the Heartfelt Creations Festive Holly Collection paper, the following are photos of it.

Heartfelt Creations Classic Wedding Bells

Welcome to Guneaux Designs!  I hope you are having a good week.  As for me, I made my first Christmas card for 2017, and it features the Heartfelt Creations Classic Wedding Bells.  Wedding bells on a Christmas card, you say?  Yes, they are wedding bells!  The Heartfelt Creations Classic Wedding Bells are so beautiful and are perfect for a Christmas card as well as a wedding card.   Here’s my card:

To create the bells on the card, I covered the stamp with VersaMark Ink, stamped the image onto white card stock, covered the image with some gold and glittery embossing powder, and heat set it.  I used inks and a dauber to color them.  I used the Heartfelt Creations Classic Wedding Bells die to cut out the image, as well as three additional sets.  I glued the four sets of bells together for dimension.

My next step was to use the Heartfelt Creations Festive Holly Collection designer paper to cover a red card base.  I first covered the card base with a piece of beige designer paper from the collection.  Then I cut a piece of holly, poinsettia, and cardinal designer paper from the collection, and cut that into two pieces using the Heartfelt Creations Classic Border Basics dies.  One of the pieces is on the top left of the card, and the other on the bottom right of the card.  I used the same die to cut the two red borders.

I created the sentiment using Microsoft Word, and cut it out using flag dies.  Then I assembled the card.

If you are looking for great designer paper, check out Heartfelt Creations paper collection.  Their designer papers are so beautiful, and they can do most of the work for you when creating cards.

Enjoy, and I would love to know what you think of the card!

Layered Die Cuts Technique – Guneaux Designs

Welcome to Guneaux Designs, and thanks for stopping by to see my card share today that showcases a Layered Die Cuts Technique.  This technique can be somewhat time consuming; however, it depends on the die you use.  This is my card using the Layered Die Cuts Technique.

The Layered Die Cuts Technique entails the use of the cut outs from a die.  For my card, I use a Neat & Tangled Scalloped Cover Plate Die and cut out the pieces from white card stock and multiple colors of card stock.

I laid the white die cut over a white panel and temporarily attached them together.  Then I began adhering the colored card stock cut outs in the appropriate spaces.  I glued a second layer of cut outs on each row.  Three or more layers would be best for dimension.  This would be easier to accomplish with a less-involved die.

To finish the card, I added various colors of sequins and a “grateful” sentiment that I cut from a piece of hologram paper that was adhered to a piece of foam.  The bottom three rows are covered with embossing accents.

I added the colorful panel to a turquoise card base using foam adhesive.

What are your thoughts about the card?
