ODBD Surprise Box

ODBD Surprise Box

I had great fun creating this Our Daily Bread Designs (ODBD) Surprise Box.  It took hours for me to complete, but it was so worth it as it is for my precious granddaughter.  The box is not for her birthday, as it may indicate.  It is a reminder to celebrate life.  Our lives can change in a split second and make you realize how important it is to celebrate life and your loved ones.

This week’s Splitcoaststamper’s Tuesday Color Challenge is hosted by Jeanne.  She selected the color combination of SU Flirty Flamingo, Bermuda Bay, and So Saffron, with a dessert option of balloons.  These colors are a beautiful combination!

Joshua 10:12-14

“On the day the Lord gave the Amorites over to Isreal, Joshua said to the Lord in the presence of Isreal:  “O sun, stand still over Gibeon, O moon, over the Valley of Aijalon.”  So the sun stood still, and the moon stopped, till the nation avenged itself on its enemies, as it is written in the Book of Jashar.  The sun stopped in the middle of the sky and delayed going down about a full day.  There has never been a day like it before or since, a day when the Lord listened to a man.  Surely the Lord was fighting for Isreal!”

To create the box, I used the ODBD Surprise Box dies to cut out the box from Bermuda Bay cardstock.  Next, I sponged onto a piece of white cardstock Hero Arts Distress Oxides inks that match closely to the color combination.  I used the balloon and string stamps from Hero Arts Birthday Celebrations Stamp Set and VersaMark® ink to stamp balloons onto the cardstock.  I covered the images with Clear Embossing Powder and melted the powder.  That was my first step to include “dessert” on my box (i.e., balloons).

When finished embossing, I rubbed Hero Arts Distress Micro Glaze over the ink.  Next, I cut to size white cardstock panels to adhere to the three sides of the box and did the same for smaller panels using the sponged and embossed piece of cardstock. I sponged the same inks onto another piece of white cardstock and use it to cut out balloons, streamers, a small bow, small hearts, a flower, border, and gift boxes.  Using SU Silver Glimmer paper, I die cut some “fireworks”.  Then it was time to assemble the box.

I added a white cardstock panel to the back panel and adhered the box into a rectangle.  I die cut and attached four dividers to the box inside for attaching the embellishments.  Lastly, I attached the embellishments, including the sentiment.  I like the box and I know my granddaughter will love it.

The following are additional photos of the box.

Thank you for stopping by and leaving a comment.  I hope you return soon!  Have a blessed day!
