Christmas and Winter Scene Bauble

Christmas and Winter Scene Bauble

I love creating 3-D crafts, and lately, I have really enjoyed doing so.  Today I have for you a 3-D Christmas and Winter Scene Bauble.  I created it in response to Saturday’s Splitcoaststampers Inspiration challenge.  The hostess for the challenge selected this site from which to draw inspiration.  I selected this Tree Scene Glass Ball Ornament as my inspiration.

This is my inspired bauble:

Matthew 24:42-44

Jesus said, “Therefore keep watch, because you do not know on what day your Lord will come.  But understand this:  If the owner of the house had known at what time of night the thief was coming, he would have kept watch and would not have let his house be broken into.  So you also must be ready, because the Son of Man will come at an hour when you do not expect him.

I initially planned to create a bauble shaker card, but as I moved along, I changed my mind.  I began by creating the following scene.  I knew I would die cut a circle from the scene and, therefore, did not focus on the sides of the panel.  After masking, blending ink, and stamping the trees scene, I laid a Hero Arts star and snowflake stencil over the scene and applied glass bead glitter gel.

After the gel dried, I used a circular die to cut out the portion of the scene that I wanted to use.  I also added three Hero Arts star embellishments to the top of the trees.

Using a watercolor brush, I mixed together some water and white PearlEx and flicked the brush over the scene to create a snowfall.

At this point, I decided I wanted a 3-D bauble instead of a bauble on a card.  Using two Hero Arts Nesting Circle Dies, I cut many frames from white cardstock and one from a Hero Arts Silver Glimmer Paper.

I began assembling the bauble by attaching several circular frames together and gluing them onto the scene.  I added several sequins to the scene, attached a ribbon for hanging the bauble, die cut a cardinal, attached the cardinal to a piece of acetate, and adhered it to the side of the bauble.  I continued adding circular frames.

After adding several more circular frames to the bauble, I die cut a snow bank and a white cat that I added on top of the frames.  I added the white cat as I was reminiscing about my Mom’s white cat that ran away after she passed.  I loved that white cat and his beautiful blue eyes.  I had not seen one like him before or after.

I added several more frames and then filled the bauble with sequins for the shaker.  I die cut a circular piece of acetate and added it to the top of the bauble.  The silver glimmer paper frame was added over the acetate and a red bow at the top of the bauble.

To cover the back of the bauble, I attached a circular piece of silver glimmer paper.

To finish, I used my logo embosser to add my name and date to the back of the bauble.

Here are additional photos that will provide a sense for the thickness of the bauble.
