Tissue Paper Watercolor Technique

Tissue Paper Watercolor Technique

For the first time, I used the Tissue Paper Watercolor Technique last week on this beautiful card.

John 5:24

“Very truly I tell you, whoever hears my word and believes him who sent me has eternal life and will not be judged but has crossed over from death to life.”

This is a sympathy card for a family who tragically lost a very young child recently.  I thought that a dove with the Biblical verse would be appropriate for such a sorrowful time.

To create the card using the Tissue Paper Watercolor Technique, I did the following:

  • Cut a piece of white tissue paper at the size needed,
  • Selected two colors of water-based ink (more colors can be chosen),
  • Swiped the inks onto a crafting mat,
  • Spritzed the ink with water,
  • Used a palette knife to mix the inks,
  • Laid the tissue paper over the ink to saturate the paper,
  • Lifted from the mat the tissue paper, very carefully to not tear it, and placed it on a paper towel,
  • Allowed the tissue paper to dry (can use a heat tool),
  • Applied glue over a piece of cardstock, covering it completely,
  • Carefully laid the paper on the glue-saturated piece of cardstock,
  • Created wrinkles in the tissue paper while placing it on the cardstock,
  • Lightly swiped a VersaMark ink pad across the top of the wrinkles,
  • Applied embossing powder, and
  • Melted the powder with a glue gun.

This photo is a closeup of the result.

This is a technique that I’ll try again as I love the outcome.

Thanks for stopping by and leaving a comment with your thoughts about the card.
