Water Colored Mondo Sakura
Hello, and welcome to Guneaux Designs. Thank you for stopping by. Today’s card share features the Essentials by Ellen Mondo Sakura stamp set. The card contains a water colored Mondo Sakura image. I do not know the name for the technique I used on the card; however, I’ll explain how I created it. If you know the name of the technique, please share it with me in the comments section. Thanks!
John 17:1-5 (Jesus Prays for Himself)
“After Jesus said this, he looked toward heaven and prayed: “Father, the time has come. Glorify your Son, that your Son may glorify you. For you granted him authority over all people that he might give eternal life to all those you have given him. Now this is eternal life: that they may know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom you have sent. I have brought you glory on earth by completing the work you gave me to do. And now, Father, glorify me in your presence with the glory I had with you before the world began.”
To create the card, I:
♥ Cut a piece of Tim Holtz watercolor paper using one of the MFT In & Out Diagonal Stitched Rectangle Dies,
♥ Stamped the Mondo Sakura stamp with VersaMark Ink, covered the image with White Embossing Powder, and heat set it,
♥ Sponged Tim Holtz Distress Oxide Worn Lipstick and Picked Raspberry ink onto the watercolor paper and over the embossed image (you can only use distress ink in order to watercolor the image),
♥ Used a baby wipe to remove the ink from the embossing,
♥ Used water and a watercolor brush to remove the ink from the image, continuing the process until the ink was a light pink (this is the technique that I do not know the name of),
♥ Used Copics in pink colors to trace around the image,
♥ Used a gray Copic pen to color various places on the image,
♥ Used the Altenew Tulip stamp set to stamp the sentiment with Versamark, covered it with White Embossing Powder, and heat set it,
♥ Used the brush to splatter water onto the panel, and
♥ Added several sequins and attached the panel onto a white card base.
I am submitting this card for today’s Inspiration Challenge on Splitcoaststampers.
That’s all, my friends! Your comments about the card are greatly appreciated, and I will respond in kind! Have a wonderful weekend!

Not sure what the name is but it is a cool technique, it does resemble the bleaching technique by removing the color. Love how it turned out.
Hi, Bev! This card is so beautiful with rich coral colors. I love how you stamped flowers on the corner and how you colored the panel. I know what it is but I haven’t tried it so far. You really inspired me to try it now. Love those sequins around flowers too. Thanks for visiting my blog and leaving sweet comments. I appreciate . Have a blessed day!.
Hugs

Love your card!
Very very beautiful card! It looks so polished and pretty! I do think that when Jennifer McGuire did this technique, she called it color lifting. I don’t think she invented it though, just named it. You are doing wonderful work here!!
BEAUTIFUL, Bev!!! LOVE this technique! It gives such DEPTH to the image! I will have to try this, as I want to learn more techniques using Oxide Inks!! 😉 I think Jennifer McGuire has done a video on the different techniques with Oxide Inks. Not sure if she hit on this one though. THANK YOU for coming over to visit! (((HUGS!)))
Beautiful image and card; great technique (I don’t know what it is called!) but you have created a lovely card using it!
I don’t know what it is called either, Beverly, other than gorgeous!!
Wow….this is a stunning card, Bev! The technique you used is called color lifting, and is one of my favorite techniques. I love the color, the spattering, and the flowers look so dimensional with the extra shading around the petals. Great card!
WOW what a stunning card Bev! I love the heat embossed flowers and all of the pink, so elegant!
Hugs, Tammy
Wow, Bev! Your blossoms are so soft they look like they were done on vellum. What a great effect, particularly with the subtle shadow! They appear to be popped up. Fantastic card and beautiful color!
So lovely, Bev! The pinks are so vibrant. The technique you used is one I’ve done a bunch in watercolor. I don’t know if it has a name in stamp land but in watercolor it’s called “lifting”. Thanks so much for visiting my blog! And I’ve been wondering about you & hope you’re doing well!
Your card is gorgeous, Bev. I really love the pink.
Bev, I don’t know the name of the technique, but your card is beautiful. I wish I was good with watercolors, but it just never turns out the way I want them to. Love the monochromatic pink on pink, so very pretty.
Hugs
Sue
