Penny Black Arctic Friends

Penny Black Arctic Friends

Welcome back, my friends!  Today I prepared a card that features a Penny Black Arctic Friends stamp.  My card is in response to an Inspiration Challenge (IC) on Splitcoaststampers.  This website was selected for the challenge and this item is my inspiration piece.

Penny Black Arctic Friends

1 Corinthians 15:58

“Therefore, my dear brothers and sisters, stand firm.  Let nothing move you.  Always give yourselves fully to the work of the Lord, because you know your labor in the Lord is not in vain.”

I have been waiting for a reason to use this stamp and the Splitcoaststampers IC gave me a reason.  I stamped the image on Copic friendly cardstock and colored it with Copic Sketch Markers.  I tried to give the polar bear some fur, but I think I gave him a lot of spots!  LOL.  Maybe he is a mix of a snow leopard and polar bear!  What do you think?

That thought brings to mind the snow leopards of Russia.  They are so beautiful and so few of them are left as a result of snares and other human activities.  I think they are awesome!  If you have not seen them before, here is a photo.

OK, back to the card.  After masking the image, I used Copics to create an arctic ice pack for him to sit on with an unfrozen sea in front of him and his friend.

I heat set Hero Arts White Embossing Powder to create the ice pack and Stickles to create the flowing ice on the sea.  Finally, I created the sky with Hero Arts Distress Oxide Inks and splattered the image with Copic White Paint for snow.  I hope you enjoy my card.  I had fun making it.

  2. Wow Bev!! This design is just as touching and sweet as can be!! So love all of that glittery shimmery shinny splendor on your design! Such a well thought out and creative take on your challenge and design! Thank you for sharing friend! HUGS

  3. This is such an adorable winter card, Bev! I love this scene and those textures on ice and water, which look like real. Amazing!! I especially love how you expressed snowy land for bears. And I absolutely recognized their fur in your coloring. Frankly speaking, I never tried fur when I colored critters, lols. I bought this set but haven’t had time to play with it. Maybe I should try it before winter ends. Thanks for inspiration, my friend!
    Hugs♡

  4. hi Bev, thanks for your sweet comment on my House mOuse design.
I am leaving the team at the end of the month as needing a bit of space from design teams. I will still be on several but not as many as I was. [8]

  5. Cute card.! I like the colors that you used and your design. I have a snow man stamp that has not touched ink yet. You are inspiring me to get it out and finally stamp it. (especially since it snowed today. Good day for card making!

  6. OH Beverly, I can’t get over how cute this is! And so shimmery and shiny – the perfect example of how we are friends and weather all storms and sunshiny days! It’s creative and beautifully done – what a magnificent and cheerful card. That snow has me spellbound!

  7. Not only do I love this image but love the masterful way you created your background. I find doing a background around a colored image is difficult. Beautiful sky and water. Your icy water makes me want to reach in and touch it. And I DO love the texture you added to your wonderful polar bears!
