Shadow Box Card

Shadow Box Card

Thank you for stopping by Guneaux Designs!  My card share today is a Shadow Box Card that I created for the Splitcoaststampers Dirty Dozen June theme, which is “Keeping Score”.  One interpretation of the theme is, ” Music Themes”.

Acts 4:32

“All the believers were one in heart and mind. No one claimed that any of their possessions was their own, but they shared everything they had.”

I decided to guess at the measurements for creating a shadow box.  Therefore, I sketched, fussy cut, and scored a piece of cardstock to form the box.  The box itself measures 5″ x 5″.  I used an ODBD die to cut out the center of the front of the box.  Then I die cut a decorative frame and added it to the opening.   After adhering the top and sides together, I added patterned paper around the front of the box.

To fit the musical theme, I decided to use a copy of a song from my dad’s old hymnal and attach it to the back of the box.  The song I chose is, “I’ll Fly Away”, as I remember being young and singing this song at church.  I thought to represent the “flying away” portion of the song, I would use a butterfly.  The butterfly stamp used is a Heartfelt Creations stamp that I stamped with VersaMark Ink, covered it with white embossing powder, and heat set it.  I die cut the butterfly and colored it with a sponge dauber and GK Designs Ocean Mist ink.

After finishing the shadow box, I made a card base for it.  I scored a 6″ x 12″ piece of cardstock in the middle with the fold at the top.  I cut a 6″ x 6″ piece of HFC patterned paper and attached it the card base.  Then I attached the shadow box to the card base.

I enjoyed making this Shadow Box Card so much that I selected it as my favorite of the six cards I made for the June Dirty Dozen Theme.

Thanks for stopping by and leaving a comment!
