Our Daily Bread Designs Star Quilt Die

Welcome, my artistic friends!  Today I’ve created for you a Mother’s Day card that features Our Daily Bread Designs Star Quilt Die.  At the beginning of April, Our Daily Bread Designs (ODBD) released a new set of stamps, dies, and paper that focus on sewing and quilting.  You can see the gorgeous new items HERE.

I purchased the new products when released, but haven’t used them until I made this card.  Actually, I was a little intimidated by the many pieces to the dies.  Now that I’m made this card, I feel more confident.

Our Daily Bread Designs Star Quilt Die

I LOVE Our Daily Bread Designs products!  This quilting release is so beautiful and reminds me of days gone by when I would sit and watch my dear Mom produce quilts, embroidery pieces, and develop other beautiful crafts.

UPDATE:  This card was included in Splitcoaststampers Favorites for the Week ending April 24!

Our Daily Bread Designs Star Quilt Die

The above photo gives you a closeup of the “quilt”.  Although Our Daily Bread Designs released designer paper to go with the dies in the release, I decided to use Stampin’ Up! Love Blossoms Designer Series Paper for this design.  After die cutting the quilting frame, I added SU Crystal Effects to give it some shine.  If you look closely, you can see that.  I also added a green embroidery thread knot in the center of the “quilt”.  I thought that would be quite appropriate.

Our Daily Bread Designs Star Quilt Die

This closeup shows the bottom portion of the card.  I used Our Daily Bread Designs Quilted With Love Stamp Set for my sentiment, “Love you to pieces!”.  I used VersaMark ink and a green embossing powder on the sentiment.  I love the two pairs of scissors and spool of thread die cuts that are from Spellbinders.  I wrapped green embroidery thread around the spool and threaded it through the green pair of scissors to make it appear that the thread is being cut.  Both pairs of scissors are highlighted with SU Crystal Effects.

Lastly, I created this card in response to a Splitcoaststampers Sketch Challenge, seen HERE.  (I almost forgot  to mention that!)

I hope you’ve enjoyed the card and will check out the sewing/quilting release from Our Daily Bread Designs!   Thanks for stopping by and leaving a comment!

Paper Casting Technique

Have you ever tried the Paper Casting Technique?  It’s fun but challenging!

I used the technique to create this card for a Splitcoaststampers Technique Lovers Challenge, TLC582, hosted by Sabrina, aka Cook22.  This challenge includes a video on paper casting using bathroom tissue.   Check it out and create a card with the technique.

Paper Casting Technique

I made this card Monday, using the same bird stamp that is on yesterday’s Purple Starling card.  I have been hesitant to upload the card as my bathroom tissue is so wrinkled (of course, I wet it!), that I didn’t like it.  I saw so many beautiful cards in the Splitcoaststampers gallery that were made with this technique that were not wrinkled! Quite frankly, I thought this card is not about to be worthy of the challenge.

After some soul-searching, I decided that I would go ahead and post it since I took the time to create it, and let the chips fall where they may!

Using the technique, I wet (or soaked) 6-double panel pieces of tissue.  Then I stamped the bird into the wet tissue to create an impression.

When the tissue dried, I used all of the below listed inks to stamp the bird image. I first stamped the bird only with turquoise but it didn’t show well. Therefore, I kept adding different colors of ink to the bird portion of the stamp and re-stamping it, until I decided, enough is enough. Then I inked the remainder of the stamp to color the floral portion of the image.

UPDATE:  This card was listed in Splitcoaststampers Favorites for the week ending on April 24!  ” Congratulations! In the General Stamping forum, you’re in the FAVORITES for the week ending April 24.

Wrinkled-2_1

Then I thought, this tissue paper will not stick together, so I got out a needle and thread and stitched around the square. That was all for naught as it will still separate. Regardless, I die cut the paper flower and leaves, colored them with Copics, and spritzed them with Glimmer Mist. There was an interesting reaction to the mist and alcohol inks together.  It started fizzing!  At first I thought I had made some champagne! LOL

That’s all folks!  Thanks for viewing and leaving comments!  Don’t forget to check out the technique video!

Hello, stampers!!  So glad you stopped by as I have for you today a Happy Mother’s Day card featuring Stampin’ Up! (SU) Fifth Avenue Floral Stamp Set, which is retired.  I made the card for the following Sketch Challenge on Splitcoaststampers:

SC588

The Sketch Challenge, SC588, hosted by Carey aka cpayette, was fun but took some time to discern.

SU Fifth Avenue Floral

I was undecided about how to approach the challenge initially. I couldn’t decide if I wanted to use designer series paper or not, and if so, where in the design. Then I found in my cabinet an OLD SU designer series paper (i.e., Sweet & Sour Speciality Designer Series Paper) and I knew the answer to the question I was pondering. To me, this paper is so pretty with Rose Red and Pumpkin Pie as the main colors. You can’t see it in the photo, but the paper comes with one side of all the designs embossed.

(UPDATE:  This card is a Favorite for the Week Ending April 17, 2016 on Splitcoaststampers!)

I then decided I wanted a floral image on the card and decided on the Hibiscus stamp from the SU Fifth Avenue Floral stamp set. I have many beautiful Hibiscus bushes in my yard, so they are special to me. Not my favorite flower, but special.

I used the swirly stamp from Everything Eleanor to create my stem after masking the flower. To give the image a little something extra, I used SU Rose Red and Pumpkin Pie Candy Dots and included two bees.

ODBD Quilted With Love

Thanks for stopping by to check out my latest piece of artwork, which features Our Daily Bread Designs (ODBD) Quilted With Love Stamp Set.  The sentiment on the card is from the Quilted With Love Stamp Set.

ODBD Quilted With Love

I made this card for two challenges on Splitcoaststampers –  TLC581, Fancy Piercing, and CAS372, Love the Chips.  Judy (StampingQueenJAR) hosted the TLC581 challenge which is to create fancy paper piercing.  Holly (hbrown) hosted the CAS372 challenge that involves using chipboard.  Both were great challenges!!

(UPDATE:   This card was selected as a Favorite for the week ending April 17 on Splitcoaststampers!)

For TLC581, I hand pierced around the flowers and vase. For CAS372, I made the vase from white chipboard that I cut three of and glued together as the chipboard was not a thick as I wanted.

I decided I would try for a second time to use Brushos.  For some odd reason, it was easier this time.  I used them to create the background behind the flowers.  I angled the application so the paper piercing would show on the bottom portion of the card.

Come back soon!

ODBD Americana Quilt Collection

Our Daily Bread Designs (ODBD) new release for the month of April includes some gorgeous products that focus around quilting.  One set of designer papers released is the ODBD Americana Quilt Collection, which I used to create this card.

ODBD Americana Quilt Collection

I love the beautiful colors of this designer paper.  I chose a floral pattern from the collection for the main focus on my card.  You can see the paper designs below.

I submitted this card to a Splitcoaststampers Sketch Challenge, SC587, as shown below. The colors in the sketch are there just for clarity, not to be matched.

God’s Blessings

Stamping With Guneaux Designs by Beverly Polen

On the last and greatest day of the festival, Jesus stood and said in a loud voice, ‘Let anyone who is thirsty come to me and drink. Whoever believes in me, as Scripture has said, rivers of living water will flow from within them.’  By this he meant the Spirit…”  John 7:37-39

ODBD Grace’s Hope

Happy Monday!!  Hope everyone had a blessed weekend!  Today’s card share features two different  and new Our Daily Bread Designs (OBDB) products: 1)  ODBD Grace’s Hope Stamp Set (1715) and 2) ODBD Lavish Layers Dies.  Also featured is a retired Stampin’ Up! Stamp Set, the And Everything Nice.

ODBD Grace's Hope

Isn’t she so pretty?  I have had this stamp of the little girl in the rain since it came out in 2005; however, I had never used it until today!  Eleven years she was stuck inside her plastic container.  Shame, shame!!  LOL

I used the new ODBD Lavish Layers Dies to cut the two frames showing on the card. Isn’t the design of these dies gorgeous?   I love the new dies!  They are very intricate but cut so well.  The card’s sentiment “HOPE” is from the ODBD Grace’s Hope stamp set. If you’ve not tried Our Daily Bread Designs products, I strongly recommend them to you!

Let me share about the name of the stamp set, Grace’s Hope.  Grace Nywening is a sweet lady who is a former Design Team Coordinator and current DT member of Our Daily Bread Designs Company.   She is undergoing a very powerful chemotherapy treatment course for Breast Cancer.  ODBD decided to honor Grace by dedicating to her the Special Edition Anniversary stamp sets for 2016!  Grace’s Hope is one of the stamp sets.  If you believe in prayer, please add her to your prayer list.  Thank you!

Back to the card.  I am submittimg this card to Splitcoaststampers for it’s Clean and Simple Challenge, CAS371 – APRIL SHOWERS.  The challenge requirements are:  “You know the old saying…April showers bring May Flowers?  Well, today it’s all about those April Showers! The challenge is to use a watery image/element on your project.”  When I read the challenge, the little girl stamp immediately came to my mind.  FINALLY, I decided to use the stamp for my image on the card!

ODBD Grace's Hope

I hope you enjoy my little girl!!
