CP Paisley Peacock Stamp Set

CP Paisley Peacock Stamp Set

Perfect Reason Collection

Hello, my friends!  Do you like peacocks?  I think peacocks are one of God’s splendid creations.  The males are more beautiful and are typically blue and green.  They are known for their iridescent tails with colorful “eye” markings of blue, gold, red, and other hues.  The large train of feathers is used in mating rituals and courtship displays.  It can be arched into a magnificent fan that reaches across the bird’s back and touches the ground on either side.

I am seeing a lot of peacock stamps being showcased on various crafting websites.  This week I receive some peacock stamps and wanted to feature them on a card.  Therefore my card share today is of a beautiful peacock with his long train of feathers.  It features Catherine Pooler’s (CP) recent released stamp set, CP Paisley Peacock Stamp Set and a matching die set. This set has 21 great stamps, and my card only features 7 of those. Catherine’s Perfect Reason Collection includes this stamp set and matching dies along with three other stamp sets, two other sets of dies, and one stencil.  As of this writing, she has only 15% of her collection available and those will sell fast.

The colors I used when creating this card were SU Pool Party, Island Indigo, Perfect Plum, and Encore Metallic Gold.  These colors are those of a Splitcoaststampers Color Challenge to which I submitted my card.  I stamped seven of the stamps in these colors and die cut each piece.  I have 21 die cuts creating the peacock.

To spotlight the body of the peacock, I cut out an oval using a die from the ODBD Ornate Ovals on the top left corner of the Solar White Card Stock.  I attached a piece of SU Perfect Plum card stock behind the oval and attached both pieces into the negative cut out panel.  I then attached the peacock’s body and one wing.

To develop the peacock’s train of feathers, I added each die cut feather in rows.  I included three gold feathers to incorporate a touch of gold for the Color Challenge.

I used Essentials by Ellen Stitching Lines dies to add the embossed border on the card.  I then added clear sequins to the eye and wing of the peacock, and to the top left of the card.

I hope you are inspired by my card featuring CP Paisley Peacock Stamp Set!  Here is a picture of the contents of Catherine’s  Perfect Reason Collection.

MATTHEW 7:15-17

Jesus said:  “Watch out for false prophets.  They come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ferocious wolves.  By their fruit you will recognize them.  Do people pick grapes from thornbushes, or figs from thistles?  Likewise every good tree bears good fruit, but a bad tree bears bad fruit.”

SU Eat Chocolate Stamp Set

Good afternoon!  I have another card to share with you today.  This card features the Stampin’ Up! (SU) Eat Chocolate Stamp Set that retired years ago.  I created this card for the Splitcoaststampers Clean and Simple Challenge, CAS417, for today.  The challenge is to “show chocolate” on a project!

I have had this SU Eat Chocolate stamp set for years and had not used it until today. When I read the text of the Clean and Simple Challenge, I knew which stamp set I would use, but first I had to find it!  I catalog my stamps and store them in alpha order.  However, I could not remember the name of the stamp set, so I had to search to find it.  I have so many of Stampin’ Up! stamp sets and many have not been used.  I used to be one a SU Demonstrator, and when catalogs were issued, I wanted everything in them.  Thus, I have sets that have never been used!  I guess that is a hazard of being an SU Demonstrator!

For the card, I decided to use SU Tempting Turquoise and Chocolate Chip card stock.  I love those two colors together.  I stamped the sentiment onto a piece of Neenah Solar White Card Stock in Chocolate Chip Ink.  I cut it out with a SU Decorative Label Punch, and also a Chocolate Chip Card Stock mat for the sentiment.  I tied a turquoise bow and attached it to the bottom of the sentiment.

I then randomly stamped in chocolate chip ink another stamp from the set.  This stamp image says, “So Much Chocolate So Little Time!”.  I wanted a chocolate chip border around the turquoise panel, and I created it with the lovely MFT In and Out Diagonal Stitched Rectangle Dies.  Before attaching each layer, I used a scallop circle punch to cut out the top left corner, which gives the appearance that someone took a bite of chocolate from the card.  LOL

Thank you so much for stopping in and leaving comments about the card!

MATTHEW 7:24-28

While on a mountainside and teaching his disciples, Jesus said, “Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock.  The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because it had its foundation on the rock.  But everyone who hears these words of mine and does not put them into practice is like a foolish man who built his house on sand.  The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell with a great crash.  When Jesus had finished saying these things, the crowds were amazed at his teaching, because he taught as one who had authority, and not as their teachers of the law.”

ODBD A True Friend

Have you seen the gorgeous Bearded Iris stamp from the ODBD A True Friend stamp set?  It is a large stamp, but it is gorgeous.  The card I’m sharing with you today spotlights a set of Bearded Irises.

ODBD A True Friend

If you like the Bearded Iris, you can get only that stamp here without the sentiments that come with the stamp set.

Yes, indeed this is a large floral stamp – stamped three times on my card!! This card is for Vicki’s (vdutchr) “So Coral Cantaloupe” Color Challenge, CC592, on Splitcoaststampers!  Vicki picked three colors that are beautiful together!  The colors are SU So Saffron, Crisp Cantaloupe, and Calypso Coral.  I colored the irises with Copic Sketch Markers that closely match the challenge colors.

I think I overdid it, don’t you? The stamp image is large, and I couldn’t stop with one stamped iris, I had to stamp three (using masking, of course)!!!  Go big, or go home!  Isn’t that the cliche? LOL

Dessert (i.e., extra points) for the color challenge is “dimension”.  I used foam tape to pop up the Spellbinders 5 x 7 Herloom Legacy die cut onto the white card base.  I added clear Wink of Stella to the beards of the irises. Hopefully you can see that.

I am also submitting this card to the Our Daily Bread Designs blog for its ODBDSLC276, Anything that Grows with ODBD.

Thanks for stopping by and have a wonderful, blessed day!

“I urge, then, first of all, that petitions, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for everyone. For kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness. This is good, and pleases God our Savior.”  1 Timothy 2:1-3

ODBD Gladiolus – You Bless Me – ODBDSLC276

Gladiolus flowers are so beautiful, and they come in a large array of colors.  The Gladiolus flower was my Mom’s favorite flower.  When I saw the Gladiolus stamp from the ODBD Gladiolous – You Bless Me stamp set, I immediately thought of her.  So this card is in memory of her.

ODBD Gladious - You Bless Me

This card will be submitted to Our Daily Bread Designs for it’s July challenge, ODBDSLC276, Anything that Grows with ODBD.  The challenge requires the use of at least one stamp from either ODBD, North Coast Creations, or Artistic Outpost.  This card is created with two ODBD products; the frame die cut and the red Gladiolus stamp.

ODBD Gladious - You Bless MeI submitted this card to the Splitcoaststampers Ways to Use It Challenge.  The challenge was to create a card and “decorate all the way to the border. Add lace to the edge, color to the edge, stamp off the edge, die cut your card with a fancy die cut whatever you do go all the way to the border.”  Therefore, I used the largest die from the ODBD Vintage Border Dies to create my card in the form of the die.

ODBD Gladious3_1
I also submitted the card for two other Splitcoaststampers Challenges: 1) F4A334, “add some sort of frame (it can be diecut, punched, stamped, embossed, etc.) to your lovely creation” . Because my card is made in the form a frame die, I decided to submit the same card for this challenge.  2) IC554, Petals, which was to draw inspiration from a website full of gorgeous floral arrangements.

If interested, you may read all the wonderful Splitcoaststampers comments on this card HERE.  You will note that the card was selected as a Favorite For The Week Ending 7/17/16, as well as a CAS (Clean and Simple) favorite.

[Jesus said,] “But I tell you who hear me:  Love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, bless those who curse you, pray for those who mistreat you.  If someone strikes you on one cheek, turn to him the other cheek, turn to him the other also.  If someone takes your cloak, do not stop him from taking your tunic.”  Luke 6:27 – 29 (NIV)

Partial Die-Cutting Technique TLC566

Yesterday, the Splitcoaststampers Website had a challenge to create a card using the Partial Die-Cutting Technique (TLC566). The Partial Die-Cutting Technique is somewhat self-explanatory as it is using a die, card stock, and die-cutting machine of your choice to partially cut a shape.  It can be done in different ways. My card shows one way and that is to have the partially cut portion of the die above the fold of a card base. (You will find a link to the Splitcoaststampers’ tutorial video on this technique below.)

Partial Die-Cutting Technique TLC566

This is the first time I have used this technique, and I really enjoyed it.  The shape that I chose to partially cut is a dragonfly (Spellbinders Die).  As you can see, my dragonfly’s wings on the left side of its body were cut but not the rest of the dragonfly’s body.  After achieving the partial cut and leaving the die and card stock in the same position, I ran them back through my die-cutting machine with embossing pads to emboss the dragonfly onto my card front.

I used copic markers to color the embossed dragonfly so the rest of the body would show. To finish the card front, I used the Stampin’ Up! Awesomely Artistic Stamp Set (clear mount) to add other elements to the card.

A video tutorial from Splitcoaststampers can be found HERE.  Once you have viewed the video, you will have a better understanding of the Partial Die-Cutting Technique.  If not, please feel free to leave a comment or ask a question about the technique by clicking on the conversation bubble to the right of this post title and leave a comment or question. Or, if viewing this post on the exact post URL, the comment section will be at the bottom of the post for comments and/or questions.

Now it’s your turn to use the Partial Die-Cutting Technique.

Loving Thoughts – Stamping With Guneaux Designs

Loving ThoughtsAn easy card for a Monday sounds good; don’t you agree?  This “Wonderful You” card featuring the Loving Thoughts Stamp Set fits the “easy” requirement!

Just slap some Stampin’ Up! Washi Tape on a card front, punch a pansy flower, and add it to the top left corner. Loving Thoughts

Are you thinking, “Why a spring-type card for this time of the year”?  Yes, it does seem like a spring-type card.  However, one of the beauties of living in South-Central Florida is flowers are still blooming!  Most stamping artists are posting fall- and winter-related cards, but I still have flowers blooming in my gardens.  Yes, I’ll post fall/winter cards soon, but not today.

I made this card for my wonderful daughter.  She is so good to me and I wanted her to know how wonderful she is.  She is always bringing me gifts of gratitude, buying me groceries without me asking, and showing her deep love for me in other ways.  Every mother should have a daughter like her!  I am so blessed!
