Winter Wonderland Scene

It’s Tuesday and that means it another Color Challenge on Splitcoaststampers!  The colors selected for today’s challenge are Stampin’ Up! (SU) Pool Party, Always Artichoke, and Cherry Cobbler!  For extra points (i.e., dessert), I included some “Bling”! My card, a Winter Wonderland Scene, is my submission for the challenge.  This is the third week that I have been a guest designer for the Splitcoaststampers color challenges and I’ve enjoyed it!

Winter Wonderland Scene

My card’s main feature is a Winter Wonderland Scene made with a Cottage Cutz die and Solar White Card Stock.  To break up the white and create a red building, I cut out a second Winter Wonderland Scene using Cherry Cobbler Card Stock.  I cut off the red church from the die cut and adhered it to the original white one.  I also used an Impression Obsession Die to cut and add three cardinals.

To get extra points (i.e., dessert) for the card, I added various colors of Stickles glue around the scene!  Hopefully it shows up well enough for you to see the bling.

Finally, I added a poinsettia on the left-bottom corner that I made with Spellbinders dies. I added Gold Flower Soft to the center of the flower.

Thanks for stopping by, and I hope you enjoyed your visit!

Altenew Peony Bouquet

I am so honored to be a Guest Designer for the Splitcoaststampers Color Challenges during August!  This card is my first card and it’s for this week’s Color Challenge, CC594. The card features the Altenew Peony Bouquet stamp set!  This stamp set is gorgeous and it involves the 3 and 4-step stamping technique.

Altenew Peony Bouquet

The Stampin’ Up! colors featured for the challenge are Watermelon Wonder, Peekaboo Peach, and Pear Pizzazz.

Watermelon Wonder 8-1/2 x 11 Cardstock  Peekaboo Peach 8-1/2 x 11 Cardstock   Pear Pizzazz 8-1/2 x 11 Cardstock

The “dessert” for this challenge is “Flowers or Fruit”.  Thus, I used flowers, the peonies from this gorgeous stamp set (see photo of the set below).

Using the 3 and 4-step stamping technique for this card took more effort as the flowers could only be created using the Watermelon Wonder and Peekaboo Peach colors.  So I learned through making the card that all I had to do was adjust the amount of ink I used for each stamp and each step.  For example, the large peony outline stamp was covered twice with Peekaboo Peach ink and stamped twice.  The next stamp, which was solid, was stamped once with Peekaboo Peach ink.  The third stamp, which is one that added dimension, was inked and stamped three times.  Lastly, the second dimensional stamp was inked with Watermelon Wonder twice and stamped twice.

Altenew Peony Bouquet

I used the same process for the peony bud and foliage.  However, I only had one color for the foliage and that is Pear Pizzazz.  I added three pearls that I colored with a copic marker that closely matches Watermelon Wonder.  Lastly, I added the sentiment, Thanks, with a stamp from Catherine Pooler’s Hand Painted Thanks stamp set.

Beach Scene

Today on Splitcoaststampers is a Color Challenge featuring Stampin’ Up! Colors of Soft Sky, Pacific Point, Wild Wasabi, and Crumb Cake.   I created a beach scene card for the challenge.  The scene features several dies from Impression Obsession, Marianne Design, Frantic Stamper Inc., Cottage Cutz, and Spellbinders.

If you want to play along with the Challenge, you can do so HERE!

7-10-16 UPDATE:  This card was included in the Splitcoaststampers Favorites of the Week ending 7-10-16!

7-12-16 UPDATE:  This card was selected as Splitcoaststampers FAVORITE for last week’s Color Challenge, CC590!!

To create the card, I used a 4-1/2″ square piece of Neenah Solar White Card Stock and sponged on the Crumb Cake sand, Marina Mist ocean, and Soft Sky sky.  Because I wanted to use a surfer, I wanted to make the ocean seem a little rough; therefore, I used Liquid Applique and spread it along the shore and into the water.

After cutting out all of the die cuts that I wanted to include on the card from the solar white paper (see list of supplies for the names of the dies), I used Copic Sketch Markers to color each one, and strategically place each cutout onto the scene.  After finishing that, I cut two Spellbinders Nestabilities Fairmont Labels dies, adhered them together with foam tape, and attached them around the scene.  I then added the flipflops and shells around the labels.  The scene was attached to a Wild Wasabi card base.

I really like how the card turned out!  I hope you enjoyed it, and will take time to provide me feedback!

Memory Box Reverse Butterfly Collage

Memory Box Reverse Butterfly CollageHello!  Have you had a good week?  For me, I’ve been sick for several days with flu-like symptoms.  I’m feeling better, but not well, and I’m hoping this passes soon as I want to get back to crafting!  I made this card Tuesday morning, but then started feeling rather sick.  Needless to say I wasn’t feeling well enough to post it. Thus, today I am sharing it with you. This card is a Mother’s Day Card and it features the Memory Box Reverse Butterfly Collage.  The Happy Mother’s Day sentiment is on the inside of the card.

I made the card in response to a Splitcoaststampers Color Challenge, CC581 – BLISSFUL WONDERS OF SOFT SKIES WITH PIZZAZZ, using Stampin’ Up! colors.  The title of the Challenge makes it obvious what Stampin’ Up! colors were selected.

BLACKBERRY BLISS, WISTERIA WONDER, SOFT SKY, and PEAR PIZZAZZ.

Memory Box Reverse Butterfly Collage

(UPDATE:  This card was selected as a favorite on Splitcoaststampers for the Week Ending May 8, 2016)

Memory Box Reverse Butterfly Collage

I used the Memory Box Reverse Butterfly Collage Die to make a stencil.  Laying the stencil over the piece of Whisper White Card Stock, I sponged over it the four colors of the challenge.  I added a sequin per butterfly as adding sequins to the card gives extra points, otherwise called “dessert”, for the challenge.

After masking the image, I lightly covered a script background stamp with Soft Sky Ink and I stamped it over the masked image  (if you look closely you can see the script).  I then die cut three sets of flowers and leaves in the four colors and added them to the card. As you can see in the picture below, I added micro beads for the center of each flower.

Memory Box Reverse Butterfly Collage Memory Box Reverse Butterfly Collage

You will note the paper piercing around the Whisper White panel.  I used the new Our Daily Bread Designs (ODBD) Pierced Rectangles Dies to accomplish the piercing.  I also used two other ODBD dies to create the floral images; ODBD Bitty Blossoms and ODBD Lovely Leaves.

Side Note:  As a Christian, finding companies with a focus on Biblical verses and other related products is difficult.  However, late last year I discovered Our Daily Bread Designs that focuses on this, and I strongly recommend them if you’re looking for a place that creates products based on faith!

The photo below gives a side view of the card.  I hope you enjoy the card, and will check out ODBD!  Thanks for stopping by and, if interested, I would love to hear about your thoughts on this card.  You can ask questions or leave comments in the bubble at the top-right of the post, or at the bottom of the post, whichever one shows.

“Do not be yoked together with unbelievers.  For what do righteousness and wickedness have in common?  Or what fellowship can light have with darkness?  What harmony is there between Christ and Belial?  What does a believer have in common with an unbeliever? What agreement is there between the temple of God and idols?  For we are the temple of the living God.  As God has said: “I will live with them and walk among them, and I will be their God, and they will be my people”. ”  2 Corinthians 6:14 -16

SU Birthday Blooms

Hello and thanks for stopping by!!  My card share today features the SU Birthday Blooms Stamp Set.

(UPDATE:  The WONDERFUL news about this card is that it was selected as the favorite card for the week of those submitted to Splitcoaststampers Color Challenge (see below) last Tuesday).

Birthday Blooms_1

As alluded to above, I created this card to submit to a Splitcoaststampers (SCS) Color Challenge, CC580 – Daffodil Island Garden.  The colors for the challenge are Daffodil Delight, Island Indigo, and Garden Green, which are Stampin’ Up! colors.  Vicki Dutcher (vdutcher), SCS member, was the wonderful host who selected these colors for the challenge.  I love blues and yellows together, so I enjoyed this challenge; it was a great color combination.

Vicki offered “dessert” if leaves were included in participants’ submission.  As you can see, they are part of the floral image on my card.

I stamped the floral image in VersaMark, added white embossing powder, and heat set it. I used the ZIG pens to watercolor the floral image, using colors as close as possible to those for the challenge. I got a little heavy-handed with the blue color at first, as this was the first time I’ve used the ZIG pens. After completion, I fussy cut the image and adhered it to a double-stitched Whisper White circle that is framed with a Garden Green double-stitched frame.

I used Daffodil Delight card stock for my card base.  I added a piece of designed acetate for the first layer, and it is from an old SU designer series paper (don’t recall the name). Then I used a old and wide piece of blue SU ribbon, stamping on my “Thank You” greeting.

I hope you enjoy the card!

Lovely As A Tree-Color Challenge

Last week I made this Lovely As A Tree card in response to a Color Challenge on Splitcoaststampers.  Barbara aka bejoyce was the host for the Color Challenge, CC577 – Pink Pool in the Meadow!   Barbara picked the wonderful colors of Pink Pirouette, Pool Party, and Mossy Meadow, and she gave us a “dessert” option of having one or more animals on the card.

Lovely As A Tree Color Challenge

(UPDATE:  This card was selected as a Favorite of the Week on Splitcoaststampers for the week ending April 10!)

These colors go so well together and I enjoyed participating in the challenge.  Remember Barbara’s challenge included dessert (i.e., extra points) if animals were included on the card?  Well look closely and you’ll see five squirrels enjoying themselves under the “Lovely As A Tree”.  I decided to offset my image to provide some room on the left side of the card for a ribbon and to use color blocking.

This card was selected as a Splitcoaststampers Favorite!  It’s a favorite of mine as well!

I hope you enjoy the card and thanks for stopping by!!!
